Could Arnold=Ronnie

I think he might have been awesome if he were using the same drugs we have today and at the same amounts. Arnold beat out his opponents at his height then, I think he would still fair very well. None of the older bodybuilders were freaky huge like today's guys because they didn't have the drugs or the drug knowledge...

If arnold were able to walk on stage today in his Olympia shape of the 80's he would get crushed by the competition. He was no where near as dense and hard as todays pros not to mention he didnt carry half of that freaky mass. Now dont get me wrong Arnold is by far my FAVORITE bodybuilder, but do you think he had the genetics to look like todays pros. He was pretty damn tall i think he was listed at 6'2" 235 when he competed. Do you think if he had todays knowledge and arsenal of drugs, creatine, clomid, var, winny etc and used the higher doses we hear of today that he could carry that kind of mass and symmetry.
Come on its late lets hear some opinions!!!

IMO Arnold looks way better than Ronnie, ok hes not as big but he looked real, god-like. Ronnie looks too freaky, it looks plastic. If i had the choice id much rather look like Arnie, thats what body building should be, he was Herculean.

Arnold's look is visually appealing, while Coleman's is disgusting.

Arnold is my favorite Bodybuilder too, I wish Levrone or Gunter woulda won this year though.

With today drugs, arnold might have lost his flat waist and vaccum. Perhaps he would have looked worse.

Arnold was better. Coleman has that turtle shell gut from taking way too much shit.

Arnold will always be the best bodybuilder ever.

It all comes down to the most important thing, that is one's genetics underneath the drug enhanced muscles. Arnold simply had the best genetics of any bodybuilder that I've ever seen. You saw the pictures of him when he was about 12. Hell, he had a beautiful body back then. His genetics are much better than Colemans.

Now, if he was competing today at an equal age of the pros, he would be doing everything that everyone else does in regard to drugs and he would probably look like some kind of a fictional comic book muscle bound freak. Too bad we'll never know what he would have looked like nowadays! I imagine it would have been quite the site!

Nobody really mentioned Arnold's mindset . He had to be the best . I believe if he had come up through the ranks in this era he would have still dominated .

That is like asking if Dick Butkiss or Jack Lambert is equal to the LB's around now.

They are much bigger faster and stronger.

But you can't compare them because it was two different eras.

in today's standards arnold would have looked something like gunter
it s hard now days to carry mr olympia mass and density being over 6 feet . back then the thin athletic and muscular look was more appealing to the judges proof of that the first freakiest BB mike mentzer didn t win in 1980.

Exactly , and if you ask around most people with eyes in their heads will agree that Gunter kicked Ronnie's bloated @ss all over the Olympia stage . So in all probability Arnold would have done the same .

could be true since arnold have genetically a better back then gunter but I think there is a reason into why ronnie got first place
you can check the olympia review form shawnray.net
it s pretty good

arnold

was awesome, but "the myth" was something else to.

Not many would dare pull off his arm over the head pose.

I dont know what is wrong today. I seen a picture of ronnie at 300+ pounds and he was in the bf% condition that the old pros of the 70's looked like they competed at. That mean being 2 inches shorter than arnold with aboud 70lbs more muscle.

THATS INSANE!!! He looked like a shaved gorilla.

Competitive bodybuilding is about genetics and drugs. Do you think that Arnold trained harder than Larry Scott or Ronnie trains harder than Dareem Charles?

It isn't like a real sport. Could Babe Ruth hit Pedro Martinez? Probably not at first. But after a while his talent would rise to the occasion.

Thank god all the drugs weren't available back then. Back then, the physiques were inspiring. Today, anyone who thinks pros look good only aspire to get a hold of more drugs. Had Ronnie competed in 1970 he would be crushed by Arnold --and about 10 other guys.

Are you guys smoking crack? Arnold is great.. but.. Ronnie is a goddamn freak and you all know it. That man is rediculously huge, and in FAR better condition. his GLUTES are striated!

I'm not a Ronnie fan or anything, but give the man credit!

In my eyes it would go :Dorian , Arnold , Ronnie , Sergio . And yeah Twitched , Ronnie is a freak , but his overall look has been heading downhill for years bro . His bloated stomach ruins the awesome lines he had .

arnolds day it was art. today not so much, it is more about pushing the body's limits.

arnold=legend

ronnie=GH belly

bodybuilding is like what a sculptor does to a sculpture except in bodybuilding it is much harder because we have to do it on the human body. -Pumping Iron

I totally agree that back when arnold was competing it was about making the human body look its absolute best... in pumping iron he talks about the proportions of his body- he didnt increase the size of a muscle unless he needed to in order to even out his physique... he probably could have been even bigger than he was.

now a days it is about pushing the limits of what is humanly possible. Both pursuits are admirable it is just a personal choice which one you respect more...

i;m right with you brotha ...someone ask ronnie how he got his calves to look so good! cough....synthol

As far as genetics go... arnold all the way, but its so hard to determine who's physique would of been better considering the amount of drugs that are currently used in todays bodybuilding compared to the past. Although, I believe arnold would look just as plastic and just as bloated as all the current bodybuilders if he was competing now. Regardless, arnold is still my favorite.

I just used ronnie as a base for all the FREAKS out there now. Do you think arnie could look as freaky as Levrone, priest, Gunter, Dorian? He had mass but no where near what they carry today plus his legs were twigs compared to many of todays pros. He had some great thigh separation and one hell of a taper, but I just dont see his 6'2" frame carrying 300 plus lbs.

I dont think Coleman is better than some of the recent bodybuilders...Yates was a champ for 6 years while Coleman was a pro and Coleman was never even a threat to Yates for those many years!

Haney was better than Coleman..I also go with Gunther, Levrone and Cutler over Coleman recently too.

Arnold by far, with todays drugs he'd be 280 riped. Hows this for funny Ronnie said that he thought he beat Jay hands down in 2001 because he has better symetry. Yet when Kevin clearly beat Ronnie in the 2002 Mr O, Ronnie said he derseved to win hands down because he's way bigger than Kevin. Last time I checked 10lbs isn't way bigger, Ronnie needs to wake up.

Arnold would still kick his butt today if he decided to try and return to bodybuilding because he made it more of an art show not a freak show. It was a marvel at the perfection one could attain in the physique of the body, not look at my big, big muscles, they are bigger then yours.

Reverse the question- how Coleman or for that matter many of today's pros would have done 20-30 years ago WITHOUT the massive amounts of drugs they do. Arnold would win safely.

That is a good point! I never thought of that. Take away GH and synthol and it is a whole new ball game.

Your right. Add to the take away list: insulin, clen, clomid etc....

Training hasnt changed much in 30 years

Arnold was the greatest ever....

EVERY pro BBer has that mindset, especially on the Olympia stage.
It boils down to a genetics game...
