Core exercises.

i had this crazy dream when i started out at 135lbs in grade 10, to leave high school 5'8 170lbs @8-9%

not so crazy anymore, my workout only consists of very very basic movements (when i started i trying out all these weird exercises that were supposedly superior) now, i do weighted chins, full squat, sldls, snatchgrip deadlift, benchpress, and overhead press. plus regular core work (which is still simple, just some weighted leg raises, weighted situps, weighted back hyperextensions).

i'm at 160lbs in grade 11 now and leaner than when i started out. growth is really picking up from just the basic movements. will these exercises keep working? it's hella fun i must add, the fact that these exercises allow so much weight to be moved.

i mean, i might be at 170lbs before september at this rate. will these exercises eventually "stop working"? is all this growth just the effect of teenage hormones or newbie gains? it's not like i'm not working my ass off, i'm just a bit giddy at the fact that i've never been stronger in my life, with no end in gains in sight

honestly, a huge factor in your gains is defenitely your age. Your testosterone levels are naturally through the roof right now. Enjoy it and utilize it as best you can right now, because with every year that passes your testosterone production decreases. Not to mention, the habits you're forming now (if sustained) will mold a great foundation for you to throw up crazy numbers as you hit you early 20's...maybe sooner. I'm about to be 25 in Aug. and my single greatest regret (with regards to training) is falling off after high school. I didn't seriously train again for almost 4 years! I went from 5'11" 165lbs. to 5'11" 250lbs. and we're not talking muscular. I started training again hard core for about 3 yrs. I've added another 20lbs now, but I can say proudly that it is muscle. My bf is still not where i want it to be...but i'm getting there. In high school i felt like more of an ectomorph and never imagined that my weight would get up into the mid to high 200's. But my point is, imagine if I continued training all this time...I'd probably be a fuckin monster right now! Keep it up...you're on the right track bro.

He bro......at your age, you got the right ideas....stay on this board and READ, READ, READ..............and while you are READING, EAT,EAT,EAT..............you're heads above the rest, keep it up.......

I'm with this guy. I stay away from isolation type shit...compound movements are where it's at...and not just for muscle growth. Good for test production, GH production, bone density, etc...

thanks for the input guys. the gains from the simple exercises have just been nonstop for the last 4 months, it's almost too good to be true! and it's fun!

I squatted in my first day at the gym.
