Cops...............????

The ways to pass these are easy, and yes, they are a bit of bullshit, but they do work on people that don’t handle direct pressure. Meaning, in your face type questions. They are not looking for anything other than your heart rate. Sure they are looking at the way you answer the question (defensive manner & such), but 99.9% of the test is monitoring your heart rate. If you ever heard of an inconclusive test, that was an individual who went in to the test with a high heart rate (nervous, scared, had something to hide) 99 % of the time these guys will become inconclusive after the first 3 questions. However, they will carry the test forward to continue looking for inconsistencies other than heart rate.
So with all that being said, I know for a fact that if you can increase your heart rate and keep it up, then you will either pass the test or be inconclusive. Inconclusive in my state doesn’t prohibit you from entering.
It really not hard to do at all... If you are bored on day, sit there still and think of things that would normally increases your hrt rate.. Notice that you can increase your rate, by just thinking of things.
If you do this when they make sure when they ask you your name.. you will be fine..

If i answer "yes" - am i "out"?

I did not even read all the responses, as i can answer this personally from a "friend" lol Do not say you did steroids, auto dq in almost every state, just think of it this way, its not a rec. drug, its cosmetic.. really trust me on this admit and you done, unless last time was 5+ years ago, but even then slim chance.... lets just say I have not been on in a while, still juice and how long is academy? home on weekends :p

So if I come off now - and the test is in a couple of months - then i can honestly say - "I haven't been on in a while"

But - do they ask specifically if I have done AAS in the last 5 years?

i have a friend that administers the polygragh tests for our city and sheriff's dept and he does ask about all illegal drugs in the pre-interview. if someone has done stuff in the past but not currently he will ask the polygragh questions accordingly. just be off and stay off until the poly test, and they are quite effective depending on the examiner.

now i have another buddy who is on the narcotics squad for the sheriff's office and he powerlifts and is heavy on gear..

Just lie bro. Trick yourself into thinking you are not lying. If you answer yes, you're probably screwed, so your only chance is to get away with saying no.

First off, there are several different lie detector tests...depending on the agency (state/fed/local) will depend on how much emphasis is placed on the question...best chance local. The test is a guide for the background investigation - show them where to invenstigate deeply.
As far as the academy...don't even dream of taking them! Get caught and you're facing more than expulsion.
AAS tests are expensive and not part of a normal battery of tests, so if they have reason to suspect you, it's possible they'll test but unlikely.
Good luck, I hope all turns out well for you.
