The fact the cop was investigating a crime against himself is irrelevant. It could've been him investiging a citizen's complaint against being short-changed.

Actually, what's silly is thinking that if someone rightfully gets an attitude for being falsely accused of being a thief, they should be assaulted. Especially considering there was a CAMERA which could prove or disprove the allegation.

You are dropping a very relevant piece of information specific to the case on video. The video shows no 20's in the drawer. The manager vouches that there are no 20's in the drawer. If an officer showed up on the scene and gathered that very relevant information, no rational person would bitch about how the cop did dick.

First of all, the police ARE allowed (and expected) to use their own judgement to some degree, in most, if not all situations. People jaywalk, speed, and commit other infractions all the time in the presence of police, but are not stopped, much less cited if there is anything more important to be done. People found to have trace amounts of marijuana are routinely let go if more is not found and no paraphernalia is found. Or, if a cop has reason to believe a suspect has drugs even though he doesn't see any, he can detain a suspect long enough for K9 to show (Note, I said reason).
Of course there are laws and procedures, but knowing which ones apply to the situation at hand is why some cops have years of service without many disciplinary actions, citizen complaints, lawsuits, etc. and others get shot at or are regularly transferred, or are eventually invited to find another profession.
Secondly, even a hostile, mouthy gangbanger shouldn't get sprayed for arguing with a cop, if the cop has no proof whatsoever that the guy did anything.
Third, if I felt I was short-changed and nobody listened, I would have called Corporate. I'd have free Big Macs for a month.
Fourth; since we're making assumptions about each other; If the teenager was your daughter or sister you'd have a fit.

I worked at McD's as a teenager & if a customer thought they were shortchanged....the manager would ask if they wanted to wait while they changed out the drawer....do a count, etc & most of the time they would wait & 99% of the time, the customer was NOT shortchanged.....

The customer never, ever called the cops over something like that....

What Im curious about, is whether or not the cop went to the manager or went straight to the employee. The video never lets us know either way.
