how does krav manga compare with boxing or jujitsu for self defense during street fights?

Well, Krav Maga focuses on real life situations. Face it, when in a street fight you want have time to perform a kata or some flying spinning back kick that you learn in other forms of martial arts.
If you attend a lesson or two you will see everything is about repitition for certain circumstances, so much so that it becomes simply a reaction without thinking about it.
Like Danielson said, it of course depends on the instructor. See who is teaching the class near you and read up on him.

Buddy28, SofaGeorge gave a good suggestion, but I have one that I think is better. Since you are in Canada I dont think you can find this, but if you can study the art of Krav Maga. It is the Israeli's army form of martial arts, which is basically a refined and deadly form of street fighting.
I studied with while in Israel for a year and it has saved my behind more times than I can count.

Krav is good. If you actually look at what you learn it is a combination of boxing, kickboxing and jujitsu.

Everybody thinks of jujitus and BJJ... they forget the classic version.

I would have put Krav on the list but it is hard to find good schools.

when i got in a little trouble with the law when i was younger, i did some time at the local county jail here in windsor ontario. there were a few toronto thugs on my range, one was in for murder. he is only doing like 7 years, and serving only half. they know the laws in canada are real leniant and they can basically get away with murder.

most of these fucks are from west toronto jane finch and shit like that. i went to jane and finch before and it felt like i was in downtown africa.

negative people are everywhere in life, you just have to learn to deal with them.
