Condi Rice as VP

billfred

New member
Kind of like it.

Thought she was a little too much of bush/CHENEY spokesperson but she is a smart chick. Sat on boards of several large US companies. Can read the Russian newspaper and converse with Wootoom.

She is BLAQUE and and Woman - that has to be good for a few taking a few of Barry's votes.

Sat on boards of several large US companies.
And that is what worries me. Well...that and the fact that she spouts off the typical neocon mantra that the world is full of evil people that want to kill us, without ever wondering why. There is no denying that she is a "smart cookie", but her "world view" is skewed by too many years within the Republican party.

Have they said if she's interested? Ive heard she said no way a few months ago. And the Drudge Report doesn't say jack squat.

nobody cares what you think

Yeah, she has repeatedly stated that she isn't interested. She is very private about her personal life...and maybe she wants to keep it that way. If she were to run as VP, she'd be scrutinized even worse than when she had her appointment under Bush.

Yes - most professors at Stanford are. What was I thinking?
Well again, you won't hear that from me as I wouldn't dispute her intellect....just her perception of the global mess we're in. Honestly...what's your take on it? Do you believe a Romney/Rice presidency would foster an era of "peace" on the world stage?

I think war in Afghanistan was necessary. I think the war in Iraq was a complete total absolute 100% mistake. Iran wouldn't be flexing it muscle right now if we had the old Iraq in place. Bush Sr knew that and Bush Jr let Cheney influence him to the point where the just had to take out Saddam.

I think Romney is a wiser man than Bush. I don't think he is more of a dove than probably most republicans care for and I like that about him. I believe Rice is the same. I think she probably thought the war in Iraq was a dumb idea as well but had to play the cards she was dealt. That is why I think she was just a Bush/Cheney spokesperson.

I don't think we will have to worry about Iran's nuclear weapons - Israel will take care of that situation. What we have to worry about is how the middle east reacts when they do. Would have been much better to have Saddam bomb the fuck out of Iran.

Oh...That's just the tip of the iceberg my friend. If you ever get a hankering to know more about the buildup to the invasion/occupation of Iraq, I implore you to read Bob Woodward's "Plan of Attack". In a nutshell, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Tenet (It's a slam dunk Mr. President! They have WMDs!) practically conspired to steer Bush' decision toward war while simultaneously isolating him from the one "voice of reason"...Colin Powell.

I did not have to read anything to believe that. It was readily apparent. Those guys drove Powell from the Republican party.

dave, who are you voting for?
Well, before I answer, allow me to explain a bit how I wound up where I am today. Back in 1978 when I became eligible to vote I immediately registered as a Republican. I voted "party line" all the way through Bush Jr's 2nd term. I never questioned the dogma being crammed down our throats by the neocons and media. My wife on the other hand would call me on some of my stances...and that got me thinking..."What if my values/beliefs/paradigm are truly biased and manipulated?". So, I began really scrutinizing my beliefs. I researched via multiple sources events (both current and past) to get to the root cause of things. Take our involvement in the ousting of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan for example and how we funded and provided weapons to OBL. My view(s) toward Israel changed after researching the Balfour Declaration and Sykes-Picot Agreement. I dug up a lot of nasty shit. It was then that I decided that I would never be part of the problem again; that I'd never prostitute my convictions. Every major piece of legislation I check who voted on it and then dig into why they voted the way they did. I check voting records on candidates...which is why I will not be voting for Obama or Romney.

In the CA Primary, I voted for Ron Paul. In the general election I'm still debating whether I write in Ron Paul or vote for Gary Johnson.

Yeah, kinda long winded, but just wanted you to see why I cannot allow myself to take my orders from the govt/media/corporate machine.

well, when you make your final decision let me know so I can vote against you therefore cancelling out your vote.

There are plenty more that will cancel out my vote and then some. I firmly believe that Romney will be our next POTUS.

It will be nearly impossible for Romney to unseat Obama. They will have to come out with proof that Obama takes gerbils up the butt about 2 days before the election to pull it off or something equally as drastic.

Indeed. I met the guy in Sacramento one time. Very smart and likeable. I met Romney a couple years ago at the Bakersfield Business Conference (I literally ran/plowed right into him as he was preparing to go up on stage to speak...LOL). Romney is full of shit IMHO.

I think she'd be a good choice, or Marco Rubio. Either one would moderate the "Christian White Male" stigma with Romney, and either one would be perfectly well-qualified, IMHO. I'd probably go with Condie, if she says she's up for it. But she would have to really want it and campaign strongly and state her views, or the Dems would say she's just a token minority to get votes.

Charles

ollooolllo @ Rubio being considered qualified.

ollooolllo @ Rubio being considered qualified.
I have to agree. I just read a news article where Rubio is condemning Obama's stance toward Venezuela and Chaves. He goes on to say where Chavez poses a "National Security" threat to the US...Jesus...this bullshit neocon/Republican "the world is evil and we need to kill them all" mantra is getting old. Who's next? Canada?

Mutah fuck this sorry ass thread and the bish ass nigga that made it.

Yes - most professors at Stanford are. What was I thinking?

I could care less about that. Education has nothing to do with intelligence. You can't "teach" anyone to be smart....ie...Dan Quayle, Sarah Palin ring any bells?

I'm just tired of the republicans doing a piss poor job of getting someone suitable for office as well as their veep.

If Mitt Romney is the best they can do for Pres, then we all might as well bend over for another 4 years because he doesn't even need the democrats to attack him. That dumbass hangs himself pretty regularly

Obama was full of it. I really liked what he had to say during his 08 campaign. He was going to break the mold and bring change to Washington. He was going to do whatever it takes to find bipartisan ground. He'd cut the debt in half by his first term or he'd be a one term pres. He'd bring our troops home from iraq but they were just shifted around. He claimed 100% transparency lol. Foreign policy is just dismal with a bunch of our relationships just teetering. The stimulus plan would cut unemployment to below 8% and keep it there. Youtube his campaign speeches its ridiculous. Crowds were just roaring like he was our savior. He's a phenomal high energy public speaker and extremely likeable is all. He'll get beat to hell with this kind of stuff in the next few months.

I have to agree with you there, but empty promises are nothing new out of Washington

Oh last time he was a rock start and nobody was going to beat him. This time he has some kinks in the armor but there are still enough people drinking the Kool aid.

Yeah, the Secretary Of State who rubber-stamped Iraq, that's just what we need.

Being educated is one thing. Being a professor at one of the top 10 if not the top university in the nation does not come easily. Sarah Palin could not teach a class at Anchorage Community College much less speak Russian - even though they are her neighbor.

Dave, Are you wearing a kilt in that tough mudder pic?
Yes. I did the Tough Mudder in it. Fucker weighed my down when I had to jump off the ramp into the lake and swim to the barrels. I won't be doing this year's TM in a kilt that much is certain.

I agree with you there. She does have good credentials. I don't dispute that.

When he was campaigning back in 08 I remember hearing his "promises" and thinking WTF are people stupid enough to think this is shit he can just magically do?

* Bring all the troops back home (they still in Iraq and now in Afghanistan and Pakistan, some deployed to Libya and Australia as well)
* Closing Guantanamo (WTF did people think he'd put the prisoners!? I laughed in embarrassment with the wikileaks stating he was trying to exchange political meet ups in if they'd take prisoners, good lord...)
* Universal Healthcare (fuck dont get me started, I come from that system, I grew up with it, it sucks, period)

I can keep going but I think you see my point... I was pissed as fuck I was too broke to vote in 08, Obama would have still won but I would have liked to know it was not thanks to me.

the best is watchin current obama supporters give valid reasons for keeping him in office.... 4 outta 5 will say b/c he caught osama then uuhhhh he... uhhh.

The part that I don't get is why people think that Condi / Ronny vs Obama / White Guy is all that different. How can you actually tell them apart? Their policies, their background, their results are striking similar, no?

So you had a bad experience with universal healthcare vs the rest of the free world and you feel qualified to say that it sucks for everyone?

There are countries that love it. There are states (Hawaii) that love it.

As for the rest, do you believe that Ronny will be better?

I have nothing against it for those who want it, but I have everything against it when they will force doctors to join it, or if they expect me to pay for it, when I will never use it. Yes, I used the word "never"! Give us a choice, and I'll probably be fine with it. If somehow it becomes law, and even if I have to pay for it, I'll look elsewhere for medical care. Anyone who thinks that there won't be a new underground medical care network, is smoking wacky tobacky. They outlawed alcohol, and we had moonshiners. They outlawed gambling, and we had the mafia. Now they outlaw cash-basis medical care as in Canada, and because there is a HUGE demand for cash-paid medical care, there will be plenty of outlaw organizations offering it....... And without contributing to the tax base.

FACT: I read an article in a high-end investors news letter (not mine, LOL), and it told of a business plan to buy a giant cruise ship, hire a team of the very best doctors in the world, and operate a state-of-the-art hospital just offshore from the USA in international waters, and outside of any jurisdiction. Perfectly legal, and would owe no taxes other than the ship registry to a foreign country, and only the rich will benefit. Think it won't happen under Obamacare if there isn't an opt-out for doctors and patients?

The whole Obamacare idea makes about as much sense as a 110% mortgage with no payments for the first year, and with free government mortgage insurance in case you can't pay when that first payment comes due, for the unemployed.

I'm thinking that the problem is not so much with the healthcare, but with (generally) the US mentality (all or nothing).

The lack of balance in this area (ie people want the right to kill themselves through food and then expect to be taken care of) doesn't line up with other places that I've lived (where people aren't trying to kill themselves through food). This would help rationalize why it works elsewhere.

It reminds me of when Obama came into power. If you recall, there were alot of people saying that there are rich and powerful people behind GWB.

Why would people generally think that Obama would be different? If the rich / powerful can get behind GWB, couldn't they get behind anyone to push their own agenda?

Were you going regimental?
LOL! Nah...Funny story, toward the end, I was on one of the final challenges where I was up high (20ft) on a platform getting ready to climb down some ladders. This was close to the finish line and there were thousands of spectators. As I walked toward the ladders, I heard a woman in the crowd cry out "Oh! Look! A kilt!" I then approached the ladder, turned around to begin my descent when I heard the same female voice cry out..."Awww. Bummer!"

LOL!

Got my pic on the official Tough Mudder website though. :)
