Anyone have any suggestions on the power supply I should use for a K7 1ghz on a Tbird socket A motherboard?? I wanna go as cheap as possible without having power failures, If i can get away with 250W that would be awesome.

Thanks
G

You can use whatever you want, man. Doesn't matter. Go to a computer hardware store, and you can get one for about $50. Or there's always ebay...

wtf are you talking about bro, you cant use whatever you want, certain motherboards (and other hardware) require a certain amount of power.

call you local computer discounter, not like best buys or circut city. tell them you need a new case for a k7 chip with a ATX board. cost around $45.00 and new cases come with a 300 watt pwr supply. Then just swap all of your components into the new case. otherwise spend $50.00 on a 300 watt pwr supply and drill out the pop rivits to install the new one........much easier buying a new case.........hope this helps.

i was planning on buying the case, so youre saying 300 should be sufficient for the k7? sounds good. The price difference between 250w and 350w is hefty when buying mass quantities.

i say call up the manufacturer or either the power supply..or the board and chip.....and ask them either how much power it can handle...or see if the PS manufacturer knows what can handle it.

i dunno if this helps...keep posting more questions about it though....I can defintaly find out at work monday...I work in IT right now so there are other people i can ask...

Bad advice!

If you have a 1 GHZ processor and a powerfull vidio card I would go no less than a 300w and dont get a cheap ass one either. I also would not recommend going to any computer hardware store. Ive seen I piece of shit computer store here in town that is selling a 250w power supply for $50 and its funny I seen the exact same one on evertek for $6. And if your going to spend $50 on one I would throw in a few extra bucks and get this 350w powersupply from enermax for $58.49.

Specifications:
350W
Meets AMD K7 and Intel 2.03 Version
Dual cooling fan design : 9cm fan intake heat, 8cm exhaust hot air
Gold-coated terminals for high performance and faint resistance improvement

For more information on the SPECIFICATIONS and COMPATIBILITY please visit the manufacturers website at www.enermax.com.tw

Wouldnt go any less than 350 with the AMD.

My roommate found out the hard way that Nordstrum is right about 'em being particular.

Spend a bit more and get the 350W
