Okay I installed windows XP RC1 to see how it was. Well ever since I installed PGP like everyone was recommending, everything went to hell. I lost my dsl connection, and I was getting blue screens. Well I uninstalled PGP but same problem. I did a system restore to before I installed pgp. Still no internet. I've reinstalled the drivers for my nic more than enough times. Also uninstalled the network settings a bunch of times. Now here's the wierd part. I can finally connect going through a wierd dialing code and not PPPoe, but I can only view this site and this site only. I can even refresh and new posts appear. But any other webpages won't display. I can't get into any dsl or computer message boards so this is my only place to ask. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm completely stumped

Oh and I do have an ip address, but I can't ping any websites nor run a trace route on anything. I can't even ping or tracert this website. I just can't figure it out

you just outlined your problem, and the inevitable solution as well right there.

XP RC1 and you want it to work... it is MS, and you want it to work.

LOL
even the networking dudes where I work think it is total shit (2K with all the patches approaches stable - XP is a steaming pile of shit - just format your drive and put something else on there - linux is free)

Settings

Remove the PGP interfaces for the nic card, then re-add your DSL connection settings.

I'll bet you opted to install the personal VPN option, which removes your old network settings and replaces them with the VPN crap.

Scrappy,
Once I take my unix and linux courses next semester I'll probably do just that but for now, I don't have the time to learn a new OS.

Yeah I tried that first but didn't make any difference then I did a system restore to totally get rid of the install.
Any other suggestions. I really don't wanna reinstall for this:bawling:

lol

my friend stuck XP or whistler or whatever the fuck it called on his computer, despite me giving him numerous wrnings that whenevr microsoft actually release anything it takes them hundreds of patches and many upgrades to actually if ever get it right. when it evbentually fucked up (took 2 weeks) he uninstalled it (no wait, it didnt let him into windows so he formatted his hard drive :lmao:

try windows 98 second edition....its the only version ive known to work (not with celerons too well though )

:bawling:
