computer problem!

Something is wrong with my computer. I have a dell inspion 4100. When I went to put my disk in the A drive today, it displayed that the disk had nothing on it...all of my papers and work was deleted, but I never deleted them!
I don't know if I have some virus or something, but maybe some of you have some ideas.
Thanks.

Floppy disks are not reliable by any stretch of the imagination. Never, never, never, never trust one.

Buy one of those USB keychain drives and never look at a floppy disk again.

Your floppy is corrupted, sorry nothing you can do

I figured it was not a good sign. What is your experience with this? Can you explain to me how this happens or why?

Floppy disks are very vurnerable to scratches, dust, drops etc

Sometimes even the floppy drive itself may damage the floppy

You may be able to recover part of your data with program that JNUTS gave you

DOnt ever ever use floppy again, I seen too many disasters happen to me while I was in college

You deserve it for using a floppy.

maybe you're right. But I did it out of naivity...I won't do it again!

I am thinking about getting another computer anyway...this dell has been giving me problems for about a year now, and it's only 2 years old!

Erase your hard drive and reload Xp or whatever came with it. I'll bet all of your problems will go away.

Have you run adaware or spybot on it? I bet your computer is loaded with spyware crap.

You know. It's funny that you say that. I JUST loaded adaware onto my computer, and I JUST reloaded XP!! These two procedures seemed to fix some of the problems (the computer freezing, not being able to access web pages), but obviously everything is not well with this dell. Like I said, this computer has been giving me some troubles for a bit now. I have been tinkering with it for just as long...trying everything that I know. Now all my documents from the floppy are erased! Of all the luck...anyway, I should have known better than to trust it! lol.

When you reloaded XP, did you erase the hard drive during the installation procedure?

No. I just reloaded the XP. I will do it again, and this time I will erase the hard drive. I don't remember being presented with that option when I reloaded XP.

Yeah, it will as if you want to repair or something like that... select reinstall and do a format. Nuke everything and start from fresh. Then download all the latest drivers for yer stuff.

I'm guessing most of your problems will go bye-bye

I will give it a try. Again, thanks. I knew I could rely on guys for some uncorrupted technical advice! I'll let you know how it works...
