I went into my accessories to do some disc cleanup of some temporary internet files (cookies). I clicked "view files" and there was a ton of em. So I deleted and when I went back later on, the disc space was cleared but when I went to "view files" again, all of the addys were still there. I don't get it. I deleted. It said the temporary internet files were cleared so why are the address still there?

go into your c: windows: cookies folder to delete all your cookies. THen if you don't want them at all, go into Internet Options and disable cookies...but you may have trouble with some sites...

try going to tools, options, delete files...then click offline content...

THEN

go into the cookies file, click slect all and hit delete....this is what i do, if i try and delete everything manually sometimes things remain.

other than that get a cookie cleanup program i guess

(btw u using netscape or IE?)

Cookies = everyone knowing your business.

Not at all.

Cookies can only be accessed by the people who put them there, and those people only have access to see what you have allowed them to see.

No privacy invasion even in the slightest.

bro just find your cookie file ....type cookies.txt in the search program, then go in properties and mark them as "read only"...

Really....hmmm.
We look at cookies all the time on people's machines at work
to see what they have been looking at - which web sites.

We even do it to consumers machines when they access our web site to determine their buying habits.
Like if they shop at crate and barrel etc: etc:

Really? That's "supposed" to be impossible. I'd be very interested to know how one accomplishes reading another website's placed cookie... for legal, ethical business purposes... of course. =)

In IT anyone can see whatever they want from your PC, and everywhere you go on the internet. Nothing on your PC is private unless you're not connected to the internet or a network.

there is no such thing as privacy on a computer.... no matter how good you think you are, someone is better... every time i go to a site or send a email i remind myself that one day i may be seeing all of those transcripts in a court of law
