computer help

New member
hoping some of you tech geeks can help. i had reformat my hard drive after my computer got infected with a virus.

i had to download many programs, such as my printer, after reforatting, using the CDs that came with the product.

i have a Sony digital camera and lost the CD which came with the camera. this is called image expert so i can download pics and use the software to make changes to the pics.

i thought i could download this software from sony.com but i am not sure this is the same program that is needed, called Image Expert. do i need to pay for this program from someone besides Sony? where would i find it? thanks!

What's up Glenn? That's probably just a newer version of the same program. Usually you need the orginal disk though. You can buy many programs to do what you want to do, photoshop being the King and also expensive. Give the new Sony program a try, you can always delete it.

Hope that helps.

Search on some file-sharing programs like limewire. You stand a decent chance of finding it, make sure you scan with antivirus first though..

is this kinda thing sony specific? or is it sort of universal? i tried downloading the driver software from sony.com and nothing happened. i think what i actually need is image expert.

Your only real goal is to get the images from your camera to the computer. Once you can do that there are 1,000,000,000 programs that will let you resize, rotate, and mainpulate etc.

That being said....

There is a chance (if you're using XP) that your computer will just detect the camera through the USB cable and let you download pictures through MY COMPUTER as a new removal disk drive.

if that doesnt work...

Then you have a couple options. Hopefully you can get the software from sony. If not, then your only real option is to buy a $20 smart-card reader from ebay or radio shack etc. Then you can take the card out of your camera and connect it to the reader.

Good Luck.

thanks you are right, i plugged in USB cable from camera to computer and was easily able to download pics to computer. was different program than i am used to, image expert. with IE i could resize, crop, brighten etc.

sometimes just easier to stick with what is comfortable. too much of a pain to learn a new program sometimes.
