I just installed a new hard drive in my hp,but I can't find my windows os disc. What can I do to get it off my old drive to put it on the new one?I looked online, and it said to go to system cd creator from the hp tools menu, but that option of course is not an option .
Maybe because your partition configuration has changed...
If your old HD was set as primary master and has later changed to primary slave or secondary master, etc. the info contained in boot.ini (if XP uses it) wouldn't be valid...
Just set it as it was set before, start it and download Drive Copy..
Didn't your hard drive come with a installation disk, 3.5"? I just bought a hard drive with and the disk has a utility to copy your old hard drive over to the new one.

Get a copy of ghost if you can. Temporarily disconnect your CD drive then connect the new drive as primary master, the old drive as secondary master (or whatever your CD was). Use ghost to copy the contents of your old drive to the new drive. Of course if you have virii on the old drive they'll be on the new one also.
