Computer gurus, how do I find my router's IP address?

Fast Twitch Fiber

I have a DSL Modem with an integrated router. I'm trying to port forward and need to know my router's IP address. Any ideas? I sent an email to my ISP but they are a bit slow answering.

hmm... the instructions for port forwarding say to enter the IP address into my browser. But when I enter that I get the "page cannot be displayed" error. What's up with that?

Did you click the link I provided and that's what you receieved?

if you're using XP, go into network connections, right click on your LAN connection and check you IP.

ISP's will usually not give you router support

Open a DOS prompt:

hit START - RUN; type CMD then hit ENTER; look for the line that says IP Address. It'll be something like 64.6.16.30

No, your link worked fine. I had tried a similar site earlier and it gave me the same IP address. The problem was when I entered the routers IP address into the browser's address bar. It's supposed to bring up a screen to configure the router but instead gave me a page cannot be displayed error. That made me think the IP address was wrong. If I run ipconfig/all from my start menu in XP, it gives me a completely different IP address than the one I'm using for the router. I only have one computer connected to the router. My understanding is that I should have 1 IP addy for the router and a different one for the PC. Is this correct?

that site will give you your computer's ip address... not your router's ip. Your router is accessed via a local IP address within your network. Try these out for size 192.168.0.1 ; 192.168.1.1; 192.168.2.1; you get the picture. those are commonly used local ips

To find your routers address, from the command prompt, type ipconfig, and it should be the default gateway.
