hey guys, if you can help me on this one I'll really appreciate it

managed to buy the parts for a new computer, its an AMD athlon 3500+ venice, with a gigabyte K8n-SLI motherboard and a SATA hard drive amongst otherthings

Knocked all together fine, but as im installing the computer wont recognise the SATA hard-drive when im installing windows XP (home edition). Its a new model motherboard so I would have thought it would (Nforce4)

Tried downloading some drivers for the motherboard from gigabytes website and hitting F6 during the XP installation, but after using the 2 drivers the supplied no joy. I have no idea what to do, I dont wan to buy a new hard drive as my Hard-drive is a really nice seagate SATA drive

anyone got any hints as to how i can get round this? i did a bit of reading and saw some existing issues with windows XP and the H-drive but the fix they suggest is the one i tried (downloading drivers).

no it isnt :( SATA is set to enabled but thats all its displaying

yea..but if the bios isnt even recognizing it...the drivers arent going to help right? IF your bios is not recognizing the drive do not worry about windows xp drivers cuz that aint gonna help.

Find your motherboard's User's Manual and look up the correct
BIOS settings for a SATA drive. you may have overlooked an SATA setting.
