competitors, do you carb load for the show with insulin???

Has anyone on here ever developed a dependency for insulin by using insulin? Just wondering.

Needsize, when is your next contest? What weight will you be at?

I have used it 10iu pre workout and 20iu post for a 6 week stretch, no problems but no growth either.

geoffgarst, contest is in 3 weeks.

My trainer tell me that the latest i can train is the wed before the show, so the full body pumping thing followed by insulin was one of the approaches I was thinking of. It also works out that its the fist day of my carb loading

rsd01, as for needing lots of carbs, thats not really true. I've gone as high as 20iu of humalog, with only 35grams of dextrose

I'm no expert but 20 iu with only 35 grams of carbs sounds kind of dangerous to me. I've done insulin also but always with over 100 grams of carbs. I still stand by what I said before about not needing the insulin though. People who have done shows in the past and who have gotten to really low bodyfat levels understand how quickly the body absorbs carbs once they are reintroduced into the body. If you've been dieting seriously for a good twelve weeks, and by your pics it looks like you have, then your body is a veritable carb sucking machine at this point. This is why I don't think insulin is necessary. Often for weeks after a show I would get the most insane pumps of my life. Also keep in mind that a lot of pros never believed in carb depleting and carb loading per se. They just simply switched over to eating more carbs and less protein before the show and ate more and more until they felt like they had filled out enough. Diuretics took care of the water retention. As far as not training after wednesday, I know that's standard, but Vince Taylor used to train balls to the walls right up to the day of the show. He said he never changed anything the week before the show except his salt intake. But he also sodium loaded throughout his entire precontest prep. I apologize if this does nothing more than confuse. Just trying to provide some food for thought.

35grams of carbs for 20iu does seem low, but I slowly worked my way down to see what my tolerance was. You have to remember, if a diabetic is going into shock, they take a glucose tab which has around 5-10 carbs in it, and that fixes them up. We tend to err way on the side of caution

:eek2:

That's got to be the single worst advice I've ever read on the board. Just because you tried it and survived, it doesn't make it right or SAFE! Very dangerous to follow suit. You should know better than that.

did I say it as advice, no,I said it was something that I had tried. I also had dextrose on hand if any symptoms showed up, shock doesnt set in immediately, there are plenty of warning signs. This was also after a conversation I had with my doctor about the subject, but I guess in your infinite wisdom you know more than he does??

And the worst advice I've ever seen on this board is that given out by those who have never done any cycles or even worked out, but claim that they have...know anyone like that Andy?

Keep playing with fire. What do I care.

Really? So now I've never worked out or done any cycles. That's cute. You could have come up with something better, more beleivable.

Btw, who schooled you on how to get insulin in the first place??? Oh yeah, me. Are you gonna deny that?

I use Humilin R so its close in action. I use 3ius per meal and as I am eating every 2-3 hours all day it adds up. All you need is enough to push the carbs in.

Quad

Quad...when do you actually start with the slin ? ( how far out before show ?)
