Comaraderie

I'm sitting in my office right now watching our team play in the first round of the NCAA tournament. No, we're not winning, we're down by one instead. As I walked through the university center, I noticed that in most offices, people are crowded around TVs watching the game. Even in the Counseling Center, people are watching the game. Wait, now we're up by one. The university even brought a big-screen TV into our food court so people could watch. (It was a photo op but oh well.) Anyway, a basketball team is bringing a university together. Students got screwed over as far as tickets go and tuition goes up regulary, but there is a real sense of comaraderie here...all because of a game. I guess I just wanted to have a Hallmark moment.

And oh btw, we're down by two again.

What makes this so great is we just lost our football team this year. This was the last season of football here. There was a lack of funding, but that was a direct result of a mostly losing team. It's sad that we will only pay for a team if it wins all the time.

I'm heading down to watch the last 2 minutes with the folks in the food court. Be back in a moment. We're up by 2. Could be an upset brewing! Keep your fingers crossed guys. Unless you're for the other team.

Just don't talk to me. We were down by three, we go for a two and foul them in the process. Can you tell I am thrilled with that intelligent move? This just ruined my day.

Has the comraderie dissolved now and everyone is bitching at each other or is it more of a symapathetic and comforting environment?

And SSME, everyone spread quickly. We all went our separate ways, the comaraderie was broken. I personally came back up to my office and started bitching at you all. lol.
