college and jobs.

It's only been a month since I've started college, but I'm already pretty sick of it. What's it really for? I already know what I'm going to end up doing eventually, and it certainly doesn't require a degree.

I'm really thinking about applying to as many interesting job offers as possible and if something nice comes up I'll pursue that for the meantime.

Here's 2 jobs I've already applied for that appeal to me-

Cruiseship casino dealer- tons of tip $, hot chicks from other countries working with you, free meals, free living accomadations.

Cruiseship Personal Trainer- try and tell me this idea isn't golden.

Either of these jobs would require me to relocate to LA and i'd be at sea 6 weeks, LA 2 weeks, year round.

It'd be tough, and hard to form a consistent/trusting relationship with someone. But maybe that's what I need, get away for a year, make some money, pull some european snapper, and travel.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

finishing scool while you are there sounds like a good idea. but if you need some time away bc your not into it, those are cool jobs,

how much pay and how much experience do you have at either?

Also, keep in mind that cruise ships have strict policies regarding employee and guest relationships. My friend was on vaca and tagged some chick who worked on the ship. She got busted and fired bc she "appeared" to be fooling around with a guest.

I have experience in the gaming industry but not in PT'ing. It doesn't take much to get certified though.

I've been applying to places all day. Most are just pipe dreams for someone my age but it can't hurt to take a shot or 2.

I applied---

Cruiseship dealer

Cruiseship PT'er

Athlete Scout- Travel country recruiting high school athletes. Not too much $ but opens the door to becoming an agent which wouldn't be bad.

Model Scout- have some connections in this industry so might be able to pull something off.

Journalist for Maxim/Stuff/espn.com- pipe dream. i sent off 1 article i'd written for each publication to see what they think. the bad thing is the article i had written for espn.com (humorous piece on lack of represenation by US bball team at world championships) was written BEFORE they lost at the world championships, so it would have been perfect, but now the story has been done 894549874 times.

i don't expect to hear anything back with any of these jobs, but a guy can dream.

I'm not looking to retire in any of them though. As for benefits, I guess it depends what you consider beneficial. Just the experience of travelling the world is beneficial enough for me. Plus free housing, clothing, meals.

Kayne- Hypothetical Situation...

If you knew within 5 years you'd definitely have your own business and a college degree wouldn't be of any benefit to this business, would you go to school?

I've actually been given this option and don't know what to do. I hate admitting it, but my familys financial status has given me that oppurtunity. My dad is expanding his businesses and is considering opening one near here and having me run it. This is just now, w/in 5 years it will be definite. Within 10 years I'll inherit his business more than likely. We've discussed it and he wants me to take it over when he retires, granted I'm willing. These businesses make good $ too, ~ 7 figures.

So I figure I might as well do something I enjoy and save up some money for 3-4 years and see where it leads me.

bro, it sounds to me that you have a good head on your shoulders and been dealt a great hand in life!!! take it and run with it! cause 4 years can fly by and you'll find yourself saying, shit, i should have done that, i should have done this. do what you want and enjoy, they are your decisions to make. on the other hand, i partied my ass off in college and passed all my classes by a cunt hair. but it was worth it to me!!!

Your name is "mylife". Why are you asking us?

I can tell you that I have a degree in math. My job does nto reqauire said degree, or any degree. I say go for it. You're only young once. School is always there.

The opportunity to run your own business is nice, but money isn;t everything. I have enough to do whatever I want, basically, and I would die of boredom if I didn't stay active.

I have one "job" in the traditional sense, but 4 careers. I don't do these things for the money, I do it to see if I can accomplish goals. I wanted to write a book, so I did, etc. They just happen to pay me.

At the end of the day, money will buy you comfort, not happiness. It's nicer to sit in a Lexus than a Saturn, and having a lap pool at the house is fun too. (and a sun deck LOL) But without constant mental stimulation, you might as well shoot yourself.

Go for it. Live a little.
