this is a real good thread with arguements on both sides,for me i dont let it goto my head that im living life right but i do feel a bit better then other people who have a blatant disregard for anyone else and such. i do on the other hand know that it doesnt get me anywhere .and material things are nothing to me,if you had been around as i grew up you would know that material things that impress the simple mind are were few and far between,i did not need those things nor wanted them

Confidence - Being that damn good with others respecting it.

In some of my old programming courses, nobody liked me because I finished all of the programming assignments quickly and got perfect scores. I didn't even mention how well I did, they just saw that I got straight hundreds and I didn't look like the typical computer geek. Somehow, I was "cocky."

For those of you "cocky" people out there - don't worry. You ARE that damn good. Don't be upset by the fact that others do not like you - be proud.

for the most part, i see most cocky dickheads being the small pretty boys. they think they can talk lots of shit and what not, but if you actually were to get in their face, they wouldnt do a god damn thing. i see this shit all the time and it pisses me off to no end, especially being in the greek system at school...most of the people i know in life that could be a dick and get away with it quite easily (because they could give the beating of a life time) are some of the nicest people i know

There's this kid at school who has gotta be like 5'5" 125 lbs..
and he thinks he's about twice that size!

He walks around fake baked to the darkest gold all year round, dies his hair a different blonde every week, has more preppy clothes than you could count, and tries to mack on every girl he sees and wont stop even when they are enraged and telling him to go away.

And the worst thing is that he thinks he can beat me up, even though im 50 lbs heavier than him, and he walks around trying to tease me, shoving me, that kind of shit.

thing that sucks is that i used to be his friend, but then he turned dumbass on me, and he knows I'm too much of a nice guy to even put a scratch in him. AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

im the same way,i have about 10-15 friends who are all pretty tight and arent to superficial

the only way to get someone like that to fuck off is to scare them by getting in there face

but i reccomend being the better person and ignoring them,you and I both know that it tears them up inside when you dont react,eventually they will get bored and find someone who reacts to the shit

Cockiness makes a person look stupid in my book. Whether they can back it up or not, makes no dfference. If you have the ability, people know it automatically, when you act that way, all they do is say "well, yes he/she has it all...blah..blah, but I guess they are not truly happy unless they are shoving it in someone elses face". That's truly pathetic to me and shows a true lack of self-confidence on their part.

Respect is some thing that takes a long time to EARN. But when you earn it, nothing feels as good (except maybe sex...lol).

Once again, treat others the way you wish them to treat you.
