Just closed the Number one COC gripper 15 times with right hand. New PR from 11. Figured Id post it up. Look forward to closing the Number 2 soon. Strange thing is I can barely close it once with my left hand. :D

Awesome work. If I were I'd definately get into that KTA program bro. It takes some masochism to enjoy it, but that's why I think you'd thrive on it :D

ThanX brother!!!! Hows your grip work been? Last I saw you destroyed the number one like a joke!! haha Ive just been messing with it alot on and off. Just like it says not to do on the package! haha Im in no rush really, but its nice to see some progress. You definately got me considering that KTA program! A little masochism now and then can be good :D. Ill probabally wait til I stall for a rediculous amount of time, then maybe try the program. ThanX alot brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Walking Beast, you're a savage in all your compound exercises, but I'm glad that I can beat you on grip. :D haha

I can rep the #1 about 25 times, and I just can barely close the #2.

Good work though, grip training is addicting. I want to close the #3 one day, I won't even try to get the #4!

Awesome brother!!!! Your inspiring me to pick up that Number 2!
This is my first time ever training for crushing grip and its getting really addicting. Cant even put the thing down while Im in front of the computer. haha. I dont use it everyday, but when I do its alot!
My crushing grip has always been weak, and want to change that!
The No3 and No4 sound fucking tough. The weight jumps are huge!!! What is the difference like between No1 and No2? Sounds big but possible soon. No3 and No4 are just freaky sounding! Would love to close them one day. Go KILL that No2 for reps and then onto No3!!!!!!!Dont underestimate yourself either, you just might close No4!!!! ThanX for the inspiration and compliment! :D

Also just a few questions to those who use the grippers:

Do you let the handles extend out all the way when repping, or only about 3/4's ? I dont let them extend fully, but do close them fully.

Also..Anyone else have the problem of one hand being MUCH stronger then the other? Any suggestions on correcting the imbalance? Doesnt bother me too much. It is strange though. I can close the gripper 15 times in one hand and only about 2 in the other! ThanX!!!!!

Beast, I usually just do singles...so therefore, yes, the handles extend out all the way between reps.

Everytime I've seen the #3 repped in videos it looks like they only let it open 1/2 way.

The dominant hand is always much stronger, probably due to its higher work demand from everyday activities. It is possible to even them out. Try to work your weaker hand more often. Pick up the gripper once a day with that hand and do 2 reps, or as many as you can do as it strengthens.

In preparation for closing a #2, you can begin shifting your grip up the handles slightly so that you lose leverage. Trying to slam the gripper shut without using your other hand to help set up is also good.

I don't open all the way to rep out.. but I rarely train reps.

I've noticed a fairly big difference between my left and right hand; I can close the 2 consistenly right-handed but am 3/4" or more away with my left hand.

Try this for your grip technique for more leverage (though it's hard to explain without a picture).

First, look for the handle in which the spring goes into it straight instead of having a slight curve to it. Some call this the dogleg. This should be on the thumb side.

The big crease in your palm near the base of your fingers; that's about where the gripper should be. You thrust your thumb forward to meet it with a solid hold.

You will notice that the other handle is too far away for your fingers to get a proper hold, this is why you take your other hand, and pinch the handles together a bit till you can get a good hold. This is called "setting" the gripper. By the way your pinky should be in a position where it is basically halfway on the bar.

Then squeeze!

Just curious how many reps should you be able to do before you move on to the next one? I am thinking of starting with the trainer since I seem to have a real weak grip. It would be nice to be able to try them before you buy them.

i couldnt close the #1 last night. close but not that close....dammit

The reccomended is 24 reps before moving onto the next one. This is on the package atleast. It says 10 -12 reps and you can start doing negatives with the next gripper up. Ill probabally be getting the Number 2 soon anyway, just to get a feel for it.

ThanX brother!! The part about the dog leg was very helpul. Will definately hold it that way from now on! Got confused by some of the instruction after that though. ThanX again!!

Hmm, I'm looking at mine now and can't see any difference between the two handles. Where is the slight curve?

I still see no difference, both sides look symetrical...

Take a close look at the spring itself, where it connects into one of the cylinders. Notice one side of the spring is straighter overall. I believe thats the dog leg. You may have to turn the gripper at different angles to see it. Hope that helps

My wife and I have both been staring at the thing for 5 minutes and still can't see any difference... :xeye: oh well, thanks anyway, WalkingBeast :)

Its not the easiest thing to spot. I may even be hallucenating! haha Im sure Debaser could help you with it. :D

Trust me, it's there :) Look at the handle where the coil attaches. That inch or so. One side should have a slight curve to it, and the other side is straight going into the handle. You're looking at Ironmind Captains of Crush grippers right?

This is funny stuff, I also kept wondering if I was hallucinating. I think I've got it now, though. If I hold a ruler against that inch or so of steel coming out of the handles, one side starts to curve at about 23mm and the other at 19mm. But it's so subtle!
