Coaching youth sports

Just had my second basketball practice today with my fifth and sixth grade girls. Coaching them at that age is alot of fun, and very rewarding as a parent.
I was asked by the Varsity coach at my oldest daughter's game if I would be interested, and at first, to be honest with you, I wasn't sure I wanted to make the commitment. But since my younger daughter would be on the team, I knew she could use the boost.
I've spent most of my life sitting on the outside "looking in" so to speak, being the passive person that I am. But getting involved in this has already been a great time, and I think I'm hooked on it.

The older you get, you start to find out what really matters in life.........and it's your relationship with your kids, and if you can help another kid at the same time.

Any other youth coaches here?

You wouldn't happen to be Max would you. My daughter is on a 5th and 6th grade basketball team. It's a lot of fun to watch them. Almost all of the girls were crying after the game because they lost. They try so hard.

Yeah - I helped coach the local Middle School's basketball teams for a while...very rewarding...and frustrating dealing with those who dare to call themselves parents

LOL. Some of the parents on our team, well I see how kids are so screwed up. Today, some of the females were screaming and yelling at the refs. It was so embarrassing.

LOL No, I'm not Max. But I can relate to what you're saying as far as emotion goes for the girls anyway. It's big to them, and I was like that as a kid too. And as a coach, I want to win, and hope I can coach them well enough to give them a chance to.
But you won't hear me yelling at a single kid or ref in our games. If I yell, it's to get a positive message across over a loud crowd, but there's no room for that negativity at this level especially.

And the parents can be a real trip to say the least. I'm an emotional parent watching my oldest play, don't get me wrong, but some of these folks literally go postal. LOL

What got me in trouble was seeing this kid always coming to practice with various bruises.....for two seasons

DEFACS had been called via the teachers several times and yet nothing was done.....interfering makes it worse on the child...they finally got it togther after the dad was areested for dui....

As a member of elite remember to use your enhanced knowledge of anabolics to give them a little chemical assitance. Be sure to start them light though with a decent dose of a-bombs, EPO and methyl test , no need to be crazy.
