ckd - what's your snack?

I have been reading the hell out of everything you guys write about ckd. I'm wanting to start, but I would like to know, what do you eat, when you get a craving before bedtime, or what do you eat, in between meals?

I don't want to just eat meat all the time, but that seems to be what it's all about.

and how do you know when your body kicks into ketosis?

help me guys.

I snack on peanut butter :)

alot of peeps use celery stalks and veggies..or you can even try carbolite bars..taste great no sugar (they use sucralose).

sugar free jello... broccoli, cauliflour... all vegetables in small amounts... I saw a low carb chocolate mouse thing at the grocery store.. might try that :P

PB has too many carbs.
When you're in ketosis, you DON'T get cravings. That's part of the popularity of the diet.
If you have to ....pop some pepperoni and mozzerella cheese into the microwave. That rocks. Walnuts are good too (3g carb, but they are all fiber).

go to the pharmacy. buy some KETOSTIX.

pee on them.

they will tell you if you're in ketosis or not... but beware because you can get false positives by taking certain supplements. and also, just because you're low carbing and the ketostix aren't showing you're in ketosis, doesn't mean you aren't burning fat.

you can also screw up a reading by drinking too much water which will flush ketones out of your system.

I'm feeling the pepperoni and mozzarella.

You don't get cravings? Does that vary, or does that seem to be the norm?

A hand full of walnuts (yes 3 grams of carbs per 1/4 cup but only 1.7 grams of digestable carbs, at least according to Dr Atkins), a few slices of swiss, or some sugar-free Jello-o topped with heavy whipping cream.
