Finally, you're going to the doctor!! It took ya long enough. :lmao: Good for you!

yeah, yeah going to have to do cardio tonight, coughing up a lung and fluid so I figure I will wait to see what docs says.

Well not good news from the doctor today I have a f&*&^* chest infection and I am not allowed to do anything until it clears up (yeah right) he gave me some really strong antibotics that I only take for four day and it stays in my system for another 10. As well, I have....

Ankylosing Spondylitis (an-key-low-sing spon-dee-lie-tis) is a chronic and progressive inflammatory disease of the spine. It is characterized by early sacroiliac joint (say-kro-ill-e-ak, sacrum) involvement followed by hardening of the anulus fibrosus and surrounding connective tissue along with arthritic changes in the facet joints. The disease may cause the spine to gradually lose flexibility and stiffen. The disease is hereditary.

I have an appointment with an arthritis specialist now and they are going to start injecting something in my back, and I have to take medication for that for the rest of my life.

and in October I go for another MRI to see if the tumor in my brain has grown bigger.

I am a friggin medical journal at this point.

So if anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do for the week that is low key or should I just lower my weights and cardio for the week???

and I am not feeling sorry for myself, just frustrated cause this is literally a pain in the ass!!!!!

How bout some of those resistance bands??? They work well, and are less stress on ya then dumb bells thats for sure :) :rose: Sorry to hear bout all that hunnnnny, hope you get better though, so ya gotta listen to those docs

Oh.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Yeah chest infections are teh suck!
The only thing I can suggest is go really easy, if at all. It can easily turn into pneumonia (I think) if you stress yourself too much.
I had an infetion a coupla weeks ago & a naturopath I saw suggested Echinacea & Goldenseal to help fight it. Check it out

I don't think you wanna lower your cals, you need to keep them where there at since you already went from 2100 down to 1400... plus you NEED that 1400 for maintenance... Hmmm as far as cardio goes, maybe just long SLOW cardio instead of anything else, like an hour in the morning or what not?!?!

Relax. I should've clarified. My infection was a skin infection, on my surgical incision. I just didn't wanna tear it open.

August 26
weight:135.8
Today will be my day off as we have lots to do and I want to give my body a rest. I must say the antibodics seem to be ALREADY working! which is amazing. So I am pretty sure it won't take too long for recovery (knock on wood)!

The pills he gave me for my back, well...I slept really well :)

Everybody have a good weekend.

Cheers to a good sleep! I've started taking Melatonin (when I remember). It works well if you're restless. I don't think it would help with a pain issue. Did he give you an anti inflamatory, a painkiller, or something for the arthritis?

it is an anti-inflamatory combined with a painkiller, yahoo! but the real test will be when or if I go for a long drive that is when it really, really hurts

Plus my chest is ok if I don't do anything  but I am sticking to 1390 calories, cause my trainer hasn't emailed me my new diet yet, I might stick to it anyway depending on what she gives me.

Shadow my butt and upper legs are still sore from the stair exercises LOL

Good morning, CK!! Enjoy your big dinner tonight! I'll be popping back in here to make sure you stayed within your calories. :velvett: hehehe

hIDN, JEN- yup nuked away! supper was great and soo was the company!

Shadow- training is not giving me anything until tuesday  and told me not to do anything until tuesday due to my chest infection (kinda agree with her there, it is still not good) but I am going to stick to your diet anyway. She has to give me the diet on tuesday though cause I prepaid for the nutrition part in april so it will be an interesting comparision. After this week is a new workout.

Take a rest .....the training is always there but your infection can always get worse...so rest hahaha I know oxymoron with kids....

Good morning, CK! :coffee: Hope you feel better soon :rose: Rest up and don't push yourself too much - you always end up paying the price when you do that!

I am trying to, really I am, mopped the floor and I think that was my workout, I am just sweating. My chest doesn't bother me too much if I don't do anything but like gymgurl said, really hard not too with 4 kids. but you would think that mopping the floor wouldn't be such a pain.

I really just can't believe it takes this long to get over a chest infection, my husband and I are baffled.

A chest infection? Hmm, interesting. I sure think it is possible to hold on to somethign that long & not really evern know it.

Do you know some people are convinced I had walking pneumonia since I had the bad kidney infection? (The nice little vistor IN MAY ... )

Either way, get well soon! Control WHAT you can to make that happen. I admire all you do with a house full of kids .. adopting?? lol :D

Thank you, we are thinking pneumonia at this point to, going back on wednesday to the doc if it still isn't any better.

A Mommy story just for you

Alright, so today I pack all the kids up, go to the store buy them lunchables, crackers, flavored water for a day at the beach. They are sooo exciting singing in the van, telling me how much they love me.

-get there and pay, and we got parking right up front- bonus
-get unpacked, start making sand castles, the girls are in the water showing me all the snails
-I tell them it is time for lunch
-They start screaming bloody murder
-They have swimmers itch. The baby is smacking herself in the legs screaming "stop it, stop it"
-my other daughter is scratching her legs until they are raw
-everybody is just staring at us
-I frantically pack up my screaming kids, , everybody is stopping me asking me whats wrong, of course I tell them swimmers itch, as my kids are still screaming. throw them in the van, drive home and shower them off and calamine lotion everywhere.
-This all in the span of one hour
-My daughter keeps on telling me "This is the worstest day ever"
-My son says "things like this always happen when dad isn't here"
-My baby just doesn't want to be touched.

Rest! I know it's hard with kids I have 3...BUT if you pamper yourself...THEY will too...
They will believe YOU are sick...It's our fault they think we are more than human...

What is swimmers itch?

It is when...
Swimmer's itch, also called cercarial dermatitis, appears as a skin rash caused by an allergic reaction to certain parasites found in certain birds and mammals . These microscopic parasites are released from infected snails into fresh and salt water (such as lakes, ponds, and oceans). Rather than finding a host bird or mammal, the parasite instead burrows into the nearby swimmer's skin, causing an allergic reaction and rash. Swimmer's itch is found throughout the world and is more frequent during summer months

and guess what they were doing when we got there, showing me all the snails in the water! But it goes away in 2 days.

August 29
Scale weight 139.8 (no exercising and period coming)

Not sure what I am doing today, I see my trainer. I have been practicing my poses but everytime I squeeze my chest muscles I can't breath and it hurts. Going back to the doctor sometime this week.

Things to Do
-I can't believe I did everything from my last list! except, I haven't mailed my forms for the competition yet. They are in my purse, in an envelope, I just have to get stamps :)
- call bank
- book massage, haircut and dye (pedicure this weekend)
- set up accounts for hubby's business

Well I am fucked. I have one more week of doing absolutely nothing, but walking for 60 minutes a day and some funky stretches morning and night. After this week, I will decide if I compete. There is always april. Excuse me while I walo in self pity for a while. LOL

She said as my trainer she can't advise me to compete in the condition I am in. I am going for accupuctor, and a massage this week as well. She said I will just get more sick, and I believe her at this point. My kids need me to be healthy more than I need to compete right now.

But it ain't over yet, one last week to decide and to see if my condition improves.

As well, today I quit smoking, yup thats right I smoke which isn't making my lungs any better or anything else for that matter. I can't blame anyone at this point but myself. Sooo yup, today is the day I quit! I quit before for 3 months and this time it is for life, I can't keep getting sick and ignoring the one major thing that would probably make everything so much better eg.(performance, the ability to breath)

So that is where things stand right now. I am going to eat clean, stretch, try get a good sleeps, quit smoking and in one week decide.

You haven't asked for it

but here it is

Don't read it if you want an objective opinion:

Postpone the competition...too manythings going on

Sickness
Dropping the smoking

and imo - lack of clear precise training/dieting plan..none of which is your fault

The Acu CAN rid your body of toxins, same with the type of massage you get, so yes you can make things worse if you are already really sick. Go get a relaxing swedish massage, it will probably do you good.

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking.

I hope you decide to finish this. You WILL feel better after 2 weeks of kicking the habit.

Well wishes to you :rose:

Too many variables at this point Hon.

show week dehydration is very very difficult - combine that with the sickness you have had going on and the drop in Nicotine and the lost week of training....its too much

So you are saying I shouldn't quit smoking (I'm just joking).

Yup that was what the trainer was telling me about the last week and given I am already sick, I need to eat not cut to get my body healthy. and I know about the nicotine drop thing, but I know i have to quit to help get rid of this infection and it is literally the best thing for me to do, I was just putting it off until after the comp.

but then TOO Much is my middle name :) (and I wonder why I get sick sometimes  )

I really do thank you and I was wondering actually if I should stick to the 1390 calories still? I have actually got quite used to that amount and considering I am not doing any exercise for the week????

Ok this may make me tear up, but listen.

I will NEVER slam someone for making a decision that will improve her quality of life, and prolong it. What's past is past ... I truly believe YOU chose the path you take in the future, and you have chosen to be healthy, now you are chosing to quit smoking. That is AWESOME and I am SO Proud of you, you really have no idea CK.

Some things are out of your control, ok we've BOTH been there lol, but the best thing for you to do is make the right decision for you and your family, and you did. The comp part is up to you. I think Shadow can foresee things that you haven't thought of yet as the date approaches, and your health is just more important. Heck if all the sudden you feel like a million bucks in a week then by all means .... Kill it girl! But if not, don't worry about it. Like Sassy always says, have a few backup show dates. If you have to wait til next year? woo hoo time to add some more muscle & preplan a little better (again NOT really your fault here).

Just think, you can use cig Money & the $$ to do this show to come see me :) heehee. :D I will buy your tickets to the day/night show :rose:

Well now I am going to cry, but I know you would never slam anyone, which made it even harder to tell you. LOL. Yup, you, shadow, and sassy are all right, and I know in one week I will definitely know, though I am pretty sure I know the answer, it is just really hard to accept right now.

and yup, I already discussed the april show with my trainer, who really does have my best interest at heart, to her defense, I found her more than half way through and she is trying to do what is best for me. I do think I am going to stick with her cause she truly isn't in it for the money and she knows my history and is pretty knowledgable about how to work with it (for example my back, because she just found out, no more squats for me, but she says she has some killer leg exercises to work around it).

and still working on coming to your show, and yes I am actually going to pass on the whole money I save thing from smoking to my husband, and noooo your not paying for my tickets (well you might have to considering I am in Canada) but I will definitely be paying you back.

Holy shit woman, catching up on your log.

There is NOTHING more important in your life than your own health because you can not function well as a mother, wife, employee, competitor etc. without it.

I like how, even in the midst of chaos, you can always employ some humour to relieve the pain

Plus, I got to see your face! Cool!

Listen to Shadow. Get another trainer.

And major kudos on the quit smoking campaign...

But most of all, JUST GET WELL QUICKLY.

Thank you for your well wishes, yup humor.... I called for health insurance today since hubby quit his job, I need a flippin separate account from my families LMAO!

I am still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I trained so hard and it probably isn't going to happen, however, I keep on thinking of how much bigger and stronger I will be by april.

On the plus side today, I figured out Simply Accounting on my own and we are on our way! and go figure today I received the following 3 calls for interviews LOL.

and I am drinking water in place of smoking so it has keep me preoccupied going to the bathroom 500 times today! :)

WOwwwweeee, just now getting caught up for the day on your log hun, and I gotta tell you how PROUD I am for you and your decision to quit smoking :D Not that I ever knew you did smoke, but quitting is definately the best decision you could make especially as far as your health is concerned :rose: As far as the show goes, I think Shadow may be right darlin, don't do anything to jeopardize another show later on down the road... just set your sights on April if ya feel sub par, and when you are back and 110% go at it killing it again just like you used to, and kick some major @$$ on stage then :D

Yup been smoking since I was, arrr 11 years old. Not very proud and my hubby has never smoked a day in his life, well not cigarette smoke and the other type he swears he never inhaled. LOL (i crack myself up sometimes)

Thanks, yeah, hubby and I talked it over tonight and the dream is dead for now.

I have to phone everybody and face the humilation of telling them it won't be in October. Feeling a wee bit like a loser right now. (yeah I know, what do you mean just right now LOL hohoho) :)

I will get over it, by this time next week I plan on having a new game plan and coming back stronger (or fatter) LOL j/k than ever.

I will be following closely those who are competing right now, taking notes and I am hoping that the bright, wonderful, all knowing, gorgeous Shadow will still help me out and I know/hope I can always count on you AWESOME girls (there is my shameless plug) LOL :)

Exactly. Anybody who cares about you (and really, who wouldn't?) will also be more concerned about your health than seeing you onstage. This is also a really busy time for you, with your Hubby's business, school starting, etc. In the spring, this'll all be a cakewalk & you can concentrate on the show.
Don't feel bad about yourself. The sign of a loser isn't how many times you get knocked down. It's how many times you get back up.

Good morning, CK! I agree with everthing said above... no need to reiterate. :) :rose:  I hope you get to feeling better soon. Plus, this way, think of how much more you will be able to prepare for the show if it's in April. ;) Of course, we're all behind you 100%!!! Get better girl!

Thanks everybody,

I know, I know.... it was my day of self pity yesterday. Nobody really wanted me to do the competition, besides my husband so when I told my friends, all they said was yahoo, now you can drink again  My parents just said "told you so".

But what is done, is done. No more stinkin thinkin. My hubby said look how far I came in just 6 months, can you imagine what I will look like in another 6 so I am really really excited and motivated again.

I call this week.....

I hate gum and candy. I quit for 3 months and drank water, water water so it is all good. The bathroom and my kids are keeping me busy. the hardest is first thing in the morning, talking on the phone and driving. but everyday will get better

I can honestly feel the nicotine oooozzing from my body today, it is kinda gross, but my chest already feels 50% better, wait till it all starts coming out of my lungs, yum yum!

Shower time. :)

I just have to have a girl moment here and say......

This board is wonderful. So many people working towards, dare I say common goals of becoming strong and healthy.

I would like to say thank you for everyone who logs, your sharing of workouts, meals and ideas and motivations only has made me more knowledgable and stronger.

As well, for myself the willingness and determination to try things that others have done but I wasn't sure if I could do. Also, in turn I have tried to pass on what I have been taught to help other people.

and everyone who doesn't log but takes the time to give advice, motivate me and kick my ass when I get out of line I thank you too.

EVERYBODY ROCKS....

girlie moment done :)

Is the 'puncture gonna help with your smoking cessation? I'm curios to see how it does for you. I'm thinking of going for various problems.

REST AND RELAXATION WEEK
August 30-Sept 6

August 31

Today I woke up and was walking down the stairs. My upper legs and lower back were killing me. I thought to myself "I must of really worked out my legs yesterday" Then I remembered I haven't worked out.

I always assumed the pain and stiffness in the morning was due to weights and cardio! Not complaining.... observing.

Last night, fell off the wagon, and had 3 beers, can you say water, water, water today! But they tasted really, really really great! I consider that my cheat, hee hee.

On an even better note, my chest infection is almost gone!!!! I feel really good today. Yup I have my cravings for a smoke, boy do I have my cravings but all is good. Family has been really understanding, and just stay away from me! LOL, no just joking, it takes about 10 minutes for the cravings to go away so I have either just gone for a walk or beat my head against a wall (LOL)

Off to accupucture today

TO DO
-call for massage
-pedicure with mom on sunday
-call to rebook dentist appointment

This week off is probably the best thing I could of done for myself, and my family. But, man do I miss working out!!!!!! which is a good thing to though, it made me realize how dedicated I am to it.
