How do cigarettes affect weight-lifting? I heard that it decreases one's testosterone. Is that true? Any information would be helpful.
 
smoking for sure decreases work capacity. i dont know about the other effects
 
Cigarette smoking will severely hinder progress. Your cardiovascular system will fail. Why on earth would a body want to grow when it is trying to fight carcinogens that are floating in the system? Also hormone and appetite suppression are common.
 
smoking at least 3 packs a day will actually raise test levels because nicotine is a stimulate. If you chain smoke before and directly after your workouts you will put on an amazing amount of mass. Really the next best thing to Cell Tech. So puff away my boy and watch your physique explode into a mass of raw animal power.:rolleyes:

actually i have seen the abstracts of a few studies showing nicotine to have a bit of a anti aromatisation effect, thus a slightly lower E, a bit higher T. of course you have got to weigh the costs:benefits, and in this case, this slight benefit doesn't really triumph over the potentially enourmous costs.
 
you shouldn't even care about the gym right now. Worry about quitting. That should be top priority
 
Your blood's oxygen capacity decreases dramatically
Your joints will be effected
You're effecting vital parts of your anatomy that need to be in sinc to attain a true anabolic environment
It effects your metabolism


and, most importantly, no matter how big you get...you'll still look like an undisciplined idiot with a cigarette hanging out of your stinky, yellow mouth

but occasionally, a nice, Dominican cigar on the other hand....:p
 
Does the same go for chewing tobacco and snuff??? I need to stop dipping lol.
 
Hm... well, I know that smoke will hinder your bloods ability to carry oxygen, which is needed for muscular performance. I also know that smoke will hurt your ability to perform under cardiovascular exercises because it will lower your ability to intake oxygen.

Not to mention how it will weaken your bones, joints and cells (skin and organs), and muscles -- because they won't get oxygen-rich blood... but rather the shitty smoke-enriched or oxygen depleated blood...

Furthermore, nicotine acts as an appetite suppressant, which means you won't be able to eat more... and you might not be able to eat enough calories to grow (unless you are talking about the KIND bud).

Aside from a training aspect of it, smoking will stain the teeth, foul the breath and make your hair all smokey so when you go to bed, you'll smell it. You'll alienate healthy people and draw unhealthy smokers to you... you'll become a nicotine freak and crave the shit like a feind.

Or... you could just not smoke.

I also always say that, having a smoking section in a restraunt, is like having a pissing section in a pool.
