i am chuckzilla. i consider myself a powerbuilder, using strongman, powerlifting and bodybuilding exercises in my training. i have competed in all three but my next comp is a strongman and its in two months. within the last eight months, i had rotator cuff surgery and a valve replacement. this will be my first comp since the surgeries.
 
my normal routine is monday, wednesday and friday. if i have an extra day off work i might add that day. along with other exercises i bench on monday and deadlift wednesday.
 
i had a choice between two other gyms, one of them had no place to deadlift so the choice was obvious. there is no strongman equipment but at least i can do my powerlifting. i guess i am going into the strongman comp in 5 weeks without training.
 
nine more days till the comp. today will be my last normal workout. next week i am going to the gym a couple days to do very light exercises and to train some clients.
 
Glad to hear that you did well chuck! Especially with the two major surgeries that you've had within the last year.
 
thursday
i usually deadlift and then do back exercises on thursday but wanted to hit bicep twice this week
so i skipped a couple back exercises and added a few bicep exercises. next week i will be back to
doing my normal back routine.

reverse preacher curl
seated dumbell curl
concentration curl
 
friday
standing military press
lateral raises
bent over lateral raises
one arm dumbell press
low pully lateral raises

Thanks for checking in. There is a gym in a nieghboring town that is talking about a local powerlifting meet but no date yet.

right now i am following a modified 5/3/1 for my deadlift and a rest/pause routine for bench press and standing military press. the rest is bodybuilding ( 4-5 sets of 6-12 reps)any help would be appreciated.

the competition was not sanctioned by USAPL like i thought but did go by there rules. commands for everything. about sixty competitors. didnt win anything but was in the top 10 for deadlift and top 15 for bench press. i looked respectable and was happy with my lifts.

I can't blame you for eating bad on the road! I saw that Eddie Hall broke the deadlift record with 1,025 pounds - pretty amazing!
