This is a link to a video taking at the Arnold Classic of the 69 kg Olympic gold medalist. 220kg x 2 back squat at 69kg bodyweight (485lbs at 152 lbs).

Guy is jacked - strong! :eek2:
no pad needed for the bar :)

You will notice most olylifters squat like that - even me to some extent - they flare their legs out, and then move em back in. Guess you use hip rotors more etc
This is considered bad by most powerlifters for some reason

PL flare their knees out as well its just not as obvious with a wider stance..
whats the deal with all the plates??? 495 is only 5 plates/side for me

He looks like hes built to squat. quite impressive. some of the ironmind ones you have posted in the past have been inspirational. Esp. the 295kg squat + GMS clip... :D
Thanks for posting.

He's using olylifting bumper plates :)
the greens are 10kg, yellows 15kg, blue 20kg, and Reds, 25kg

they need to make them heavier then..how you supposed to put a grand on the bar with all those plates???

:p

you have to watch the 320kg x 1 clip... them crazy bulgarians

just watched the video... jeez, that leg movement...

that looked hella easy for him, came up with 100% control.

jeez, he lifted it like it was an afterthought, that is seriously impressive
I'm squatting the same amount for reps right now, but I have over 100lbs of bodyweight on that dude

yeah what's with the leg circulation? Is he going down wide and coming in narrow in order to "save" a particular muscle for the harder concentrics?

I think his leg action i.e. flaring his legs out on the way down, has more to do with how he receives the weight during a clean than anything else.

I wanna know what happens if he doesnt rack it properly at the bottom of the catch. Is there a safe method for them to bail, or is it just bad luck..your stapled?

i can squat 2x my bodyweight, lmao not over 3 times.

looks like his legs are far more developed than his upper body though. I think if he was the same weight......and was more proportional there's no way he could have squatted that much weight. (IMO, he looks unevenely strong in his legs compared to his upper body........)

WTF? hes a friggin world class olympic lifter, hoogish. He has amazing strength balance of upper and lower body. Btw, even if he had a bigger upper body, it wont make much of a difference. That was his "light" day. Get rid of that ego :P

lean forward and dump the bar

elbows looked ebnt but it's locked out though

you just dump the bar forward or back, its not hard to do that. You learn how to bail out of lift when you train

Flairs the legs to get into the hole, (which he would do to catch the weight on the clean)thats a hell of a deep squat. Not like some of these half squats and 3" above parallel squat I see on most of the links.

Idalberto Arranda from Cuba smokin 650 lbs for a deuce at a bodyweight of 170.

NO BELT! NO SPOTTER! NO SWEAT!

Another deep squat. The depth rules for IPF in our country are the top of the thigh where it joins the body must be visibly lower than the top of the knee. Im bloody shore alot of people here think when their hamy's are parallel to the floor its a real deep squat!!!!!!!
