Hmmm... you sure? I always thought that it had a higher GI???
Ahh crap, you're right. I don't know, I read somewhere on the board that they had the same GI. I did a search and verified that brown has a lower GI than white.

I think I'll continue eating white though. I'm not competitive, and I want to try to continue eating food that I'm used to. :D

EDIT:
http://www.trans4mind.com/nutrition/glycemic_index.html

That site says white is 56 and brown is 55. A lot of sites say different regarding white rice, but brown is around 50 to 60.

Yeah dude I'm with you... I don't think the GI value difference is significant enough to justify my giving up white rice in favor of brown. I mean, I want to eat in a way that I can continue for a long time--hell, my whole life, so it's important to me that I like the stuff I'm eating.

the difference between white and brown rice are:

lower insulin Index
more fiber
more vitamins/minerals

for brown rice

The only carbs I eat after 3 pm is lettuce :)

The only rice I eat is some fried rice after training on some days. Then the faster the carbs the better.

They're all starchy carbs, and to the body its all the same sugar. Just that some are faster than others. I got blood sugar crashes from brown rich, as well as white rich, same deal with whole wheat pasta.

So I never eat this stuff before training. Only Meat and lettuce sustains my blood sugar :)

Like they say - Eat to live and not live to eat!
Once you understand this concept, you will make much better progress :)

Shit! I meant Chop Suey not Chow Mein sorry. I don't know bro... true brown rice may be a little "better" but I wouldn't call white rice bad... I mean, it just tastes so much better to me that I'll sacrifice the 20 GI points if it means I'm more likely to stick to the diet long-term...

You gotta try this shit though bro seriously
Yeah some people cannot completely cut the simple carbs (such as rice) so we need to get it somewhere. I prefer fruit for my simple carbs. But if I were strong enough, I would never eat simple carbs. If you really want to be cut, don't eat them (rice and pasta included).

Basmatti rice (white) is the LOWEST GI rating of white rice, maybe even some brown. If you eat white rice, eat Basmatti....
