These two guys were my department counterparts (until I was promoted to executive this past summer) in Chicago.
My company has been trying to break into the Chicago market for 6 years. These two have been there for 4 years and never brought a hospital into the company. I don't mean, a hospital in Chicago, they have brought ZERO hospitals into the company in four years. (I brought in 9 this year alone)
They had all these reasons why, but basically they were sitting on their ass collecting their base salary and doing nothing.
It just so happened right after I got my promotion, I had a pool party to celebrate it (any reason is a good reason), and one of the invitees brought a guest that just happened to know the Hospital Admin in Chicago. He gave me the contact and I followed up and was surprised to hear that he tried to work with my company before but could never get anywhere. So I ask my boss if I could have a shot at it. (since I had the inside contact). She asked the President (her boss) and he said that if I could get the hospital, he would give me an extra 10% of the commission as a bonus out of his own pocket. (tax free).
So I go to it. I do the work. I do the business model. I do the doctor chart. I do everything and I make the deal. Couple of weeks later, I am hearing reports from other personnel that these two in Chicago were so happy with their new contract. One of them had even gone to look at new cars in anticipation of his commission check. I am like "whoa... what hospital did they get?" Mainly, because in 4 years they never gotten ONE. I find out it was mine. I was like "no way". So the President called them himself and said, you get nothing. You did none of the work, none of the follow up, none of the contacts. You get nothing. They don't like that.
So basically in a nutshell, they screwed me out of my money because they went behind my back and had a meeting with this hospital admin saying that they were the Chicago reps and they would be handling the work through their office. They then submitted another business proposal to him that was all fucked up. And 3 days before the contract was to begin, this guy cancelled. They shifted so much shit around and sat on their asses to deliberately kill it. When I found out, I called the guy and discovered what they had done. I explained to him that it was not the case, but by then, he had signed with one of our competitors. He did however, forward all the emails they sent him to me for review and using that, my boss got the President to ok for the network admins to print off all their emails for us to read. Everything they were saying to me was the opposite of what they were saying to him. Naturally they were desingnated to be terminated on the spot by the President.
The President apologized on behalf the company and himself to me for happened and asked if there was something he could do to make it up. I asked to be the one to fire them. I said I was an executive now and I wanted to personally fire them myself.
When I showed up there yesterday, they knew some shit was going down soon. They were horrified I was there in person. I showed up unannounced and I used every tactic (psychological and physical) that they teach in master's programs to intimidate them.
