I worked in the swamps of Southeast LA for over a decade and only came across an agressive alligator a couple of times. That was mom's protecting their nest.
I don't understand when I read of alligator attacks ... there's only like 6 recorded attacks in Louisiana history and most of those were on small children.
They are more aggressive down here. There was one just recently that lay in wait on a bank and waited for a female jogger to come around the trail and when she did, he ambushed her and killed her. Ate parts of her too.
