I have to show my creation off here since I don't have any real-life friends who come visit me. Saw this design at Target, so decided to make my own for about $50 instead of spending $300. I added a couple of lights to mine.

If you don’t like your job you could become a furniture designer or an interior decorator, I would hate to show you my place,

Yours is really nice.

I like.. Very Creative.. ;)

Great tv set too..

They always tell me I am pretty good with the wood. *wink wink*

Very cool! Your walls are still looking a little bare though.

True.

I plan on doing another art piece for the other side of the bed.

The walls are 10 feet high instead of the typical 8, so it does make it harder to fill the space up.

Don't be afraid to get a big canvas. 3'x4' or larger.

I am afraid of large things.

....I can't even look down when I go pee.

Where's the books? I just got two small new bookcases this summer and there still isn't enough room for all my books. I need a bloody small library or something.

Can you really call that a 'bookcase'? Or is it some post-modernism expression thing?

shup nerd

I always need more spots for books. I need to start building shelves instead of buying them. It would save me a TON of money. I wish I had some power tools.

I always give my books away after I read them. I only have cook books. I like the shelves, but they don't look deep enough to hold books. The design is cool fo sho. I don't have anything on my walls either. I haven't done anything to decorate my house.

Nice looking bookcase, how long did it take you?

cutting pieces and assembling = 5 hours
priming and sanding = 1 hour
2 coats paint plus top coat = 3 hours
lighting and electrical = 1.5 hours

total = approx 10 - 11 hours.

Thats cool on the bookcase. I like the mission style furniture and tried to build some of that once but it turned out looking like crap. :( You obviously know what you are doing though.

Ill bet you could sell quite a few of those in your area or even on ebay..

(i love this line. makes my sisters eyes roll like poker machines :lmao: )

Impressive carpentry skills aap.

I'm with Samoth though looks a little too modern art for my taste. Still kudos on the work and finished product.

I have two 6'x3' bookshelves that can't hold all my books, I need to get a nice library area in the next place I live.

Cheers,

good work. i have the distinction of living in an adult's apartment, but leaving it (un)furnished like a college douche.

Look cool! I like the lights. overall much better vibe than bran's place

Heck no....I was cursing the entire time. Having all the pieces line up plus be level was a pain. Plus the worst part is how to assemble it - it had to be done in sections because if it was put together certain ways there was no clearance for the drill/screw driver.

Yeah it's modern/contemporary. Not really practical as much as it is meant for astetics. Honestly I don't think I'll have a single book in it. Simply display stuff.

Well you could just be a cheap-ass like me and make everything.

eek that was kinda bitchy

that is just her way of playing hard to get. She's obviously hoping I will invite her over to show her it looks good in person.

Bran is a gay guy without style or taste.

At least you didn't call them toys and yes, yes they are and no you can't come play with them.

Okay you can if you want. Btw I have another knight on a horse arriving this week. How exciting is that!!!!!!!

DieselGunz said:
damn nice job AAP, i was looking at that same bookcase the other day.

I like yours better

Thanks. Well not only was it considerbly cheaper ($280 - $50) it means more and is more satisfying knowing I built something. Mine is real wood also instead of the hollow stuff they used on the one at the store.

My only regret is that I wish I made it a tad deeper. like 10 or 12 inches instead of 8.

Your studio apartment looks nice. And I like that shelving unit too.

Niggah please, that is just my bedroom which is larger than most people's entire apartment.

I rule!
