cheating question...

alright i know the obvious answer is to not cheat at all. getting that out of the way here is my question:

for instance, today at work there were kripy kreme donuts. i had to give in and ate a few. now, im on a cutting diet. since i ate a ton of carbs in these donuts, should i cut back on my other normal breakfast which is oats? i figure since i already had taken in so many calories i shouldnt. i hope this is stated clearly. or for instance if i know im going to go out and drink at night, should i not eat my last small meal of the night because i know i am already going to be getting calories from drinking and the key is not too many cals to screw my cut. hope this is clear. thanks bros.

You are CUTTING!! With cutting, if done properly, bings SELF-CONTROL......This is why many people can't cut and stay bulked all year long.....for me anyways, I'm 100% strict when cutting.........

You probably shouldn't drink without eating.

You really can't cut and drink at the same time.
Enjoy tonight - eat drink and be merry.

Have some reasonable control through the holidays and make a deal with your self that you will eat clean (no drinking) after the holidays or new years eve.

if you know the obvious answer then why ask? but to answer your other ? calories from drinking are not going to be taken the same as calories from good clean food. And NO, if you MUST drink and are getting extra calories, bust your ass even harder the next day to burn them off, never skip your required food.

Bump this answer.. it's a good one.

Life is made of choices

If you want to eat donuts and drink, enjoy yourself

If you want to cut, good for you

But you can't do both at the same time

Make up your mind

hawaii, thanks for being the only one to actually answer my question. karma your way. i know the obvious answer is to skip the donuts and i know everyone has given in like that before sometime so i just have to shake my head here thinking that NO ONE has ever cheated. i know i shouldnt have cheated and ate them, but the question never was about that. it was about what i should do after ive messed up. thanks again.

The problem with these types of foods are that they cause an Insuline Spike and are High GI carb foods which pretty much go straight to fat stores. Do some research on LOW GI carb foods you can incorporate for cutting. Which means no sweets, sugars, candies, nada....zip.

i know all about the GI scale and its effects. that was not the question. my point is, i was trying to stay at or below a certain calorie level, so if i messed up and ate some stuff i shouldnt have (IE: donuts) should i continue and eat everything else that day like i normally would have. this would put me over my desired calorie level. that is the question i raised.

Eat all the protein and fats you would have...think about losing some of the carbs. But bust your ass in cardio as soon as possible. There will still be negative effects...but you can minimize them.

i would

because i dont like feeling like a fat slob

I don't mean to make you feel like I'm dumping on you.

I just mean, at some point during the year you're gonna bulk. Why not do it December? Calories in are higher, temptation is way higher, etc. If you had to pick one month out of the year where cutting is the hardest IMHO it would be December. If you had to pick one month out of the year where bulking was easiest IMHO it would be December. I figure you might as well make it work for YOU instead of making YOU work for it.

No one likes feeling like a fat slob, but I don't think eating for a couple of weeks or so are going to make you a fat slob if you're still hitting the iron.
