Cheap Windows Vista For Everyone (Microsoft's failure = unadvertised sale)

what if you want to do a clean install? does the upgrade let you format first then completely reinstall windows, or does it only let you 'upgrade' an existing image?

if the upgrade lets you do a clean install, this is pointless...if it doesn't, this is golden.

dt, are you running vista?
no, we use 2000 at work and I use Linux at home. It's advanced enough that I don't really miss anything.

I would always advise against upgrading until the first service pack is released.

what really pisses me off about my peeps that I call on for this and that, things I just can't figure out is, I have Dell Systems here, and there are some systems that don't have the toodles that others have but we decide we need them. them fuggers know a way around Microsoft reg codes and shit and they won't tell me how to do it... grrr... LOL

I beleive the upgrade to Vista from XP trashes your valid XP key in case you ever wanted to go back.

that is true. it will invalidate any xp key it uses when it 'upgrades' said system.

dt, how do you get anything done on linux?

sorry, but there just arent enough decent programs out for it to justify using it. i have ran slackware/debian linux and freebsd a few years ago, but it's just too much of a hassle to use it still.

so it's either aresenic or hemlock, when it comes to computing.
