Certified Financial Planner Career

WhatOkay

New member
I have worked in commercial financial product industry for past 3 years , mostly sales and had decided to make change in careers recently.

Have been interviewing with a company that has 22 offices nationwide and provide full hands-on training program for new employees and assist with licensing . I got offered a job with them and I accepted it. I feel that it is the industry I want to create my success in. I understand it's challanging and competetive; however, the rewards are there in the long run.

What is the quickest way to become successful in this field and create large number clients ?

I believe people who function in the role of CFP's are desperately needed in America today, I just wish the way they are compensated didn't encourage them to screw over their clients.

Accumulating as many "Assets Under Management" as possible and then sitting back to collect the 1% fee on the money per year while ignoring performance and trying to match the S&P, and selling people life insurance products and annuities with 9% commissions attached upsets me.

Do A LOT of research on the company you are looking at before you commit.

There are entire message boards and forums of CFP's all arguing with each other about how to get clients and complaining about how they don't have enough.

Many recommend cold calling. *shivver*
