what are the risks of me bringing home a stray? as far as diseases, not my masculinity....

Three weeks ago I adopted a stray..Nomee. Originally he was going to be an outside cat. He came limping home one night and off to the vets we go. The vet suggested a blood test. If Nomee was clear I could take him home, if not I had to put him down. The problem being, if he had the vac. before his new life then he will test positive. Thankfully he was negative. Good luck
