Cardio while on

I am a cardio machine normally. 5-6 days week at 20-50 min per session. I'm on my first cycle in a few years running propionate/EQ. Results have been pretty good. Week 7, and I'm up about 12 lbs. It seems that the extra weight is making my cardio very difficult. I can't seem to run anymore without getting bad shin splints and just plain tired. I am still walking at an incline for 30-45 minutes but even then I get pain in the shins. I have heard EQ helps with endurance but seems to be hurting mine. Any experience with this or advice?

EQ did wonders for my cardio. It will definitely increase RBC (red blood count) - mine is always elevated when I get my PCT bloodwork done.

It may be the prop. I know with say dbol the pumps are too intense and my shins and lower back really get hammered when I run.

IMO cut back on the cardio or do something different like ride a bike. Low impact cardio will take the pressure off of your lower legs.

Not too water down the water posts (pun intended) but if you drink too much water you will flush your electrolytes and end up being sluggish. Make sure you are also taking a multi-vitamin with all of that water ;)

Also, check your diet to make sure you are getting enough calories.

On another note, you may not be getting enough rest. It is possible to overtrain while on cycle.

What I would do is make another post, list your diet, workout schedule and all of the gear you are taking. Be as specific as possible. There are some diet and training gurus on here that will set you straighter than an arrow.

Lay off the running for a bit and use do other cardio. Use the elliptical and bikes, walk on the treadmill to relieve the pounding. Cross train for a bit.

Yeah man..... SHIN SPLINTS are due to poor stretching, actually.... you need to stretch properly, light and static calf extentions BEFORE you run, and good, long dynamic stretches AFTER you run.... The more water/mult-vit are essential...if you were a real cardio guy, you'd be doing THAT anyway......

I would lay off the running and do some interval "spinning" on the bike for a while, (I think elipticals suck if you are a "real" cardio guy)..... and once you're shins are back on track...do INTERVAL work (HIIT) instead of long hours on the treadmill. Stair master, Body climbers, rowing ergs, all better alternatives if you are packing on muscle.....better for your KNEES too....

Good luck dude!

Keep in mind that 12 additional pounds can make a huge impact in how your body responds to gravity. It doesn't take a scientist to explain why a runner has the body of a runner and can run for extended periods of time. Big bodybuilders don't run. They use the elliptical machine or walk on the treadmill or stairmaster or stationary bike.
Hikers who walk for very long distances are very careful on how to buy the appropriate hiking back that will not bounce side to side as they walk but straps from chest and waist in order to be an extension of their body. But even so, hiking with an additional 15 lb of food and clothes in your back pack can create problems with your feet and legs that wouldn't normally happen with no back pack at all.
You might benefit more by stretching a bit more but why risk it? Do other things that are less stressful on the shins. I'm roughly 50lb heavier than my natural bodyweight. And from my experience I know that my feet don't like having to move this extra weight. But I deal with it and work accordingly. I've made the changes in order to avoid more problems.

I think it's too much cardio. Plus Needto is right, drink more water.

How's your blood pressure too?

While on your blood pressure can raise considerably which will affect your cardio sessions in relation to the tiredness feeling.

As for shin splints I get those too while on cycle I'm not sure what the hell it is but it does affect me. Typically I just hit the bike when they flare up. I'm off now and finsihed up PCT about two weeks ago, running again everyday for last two weeks and no sign of shin splints.

I have always had a bulk-phobia. Competed naturally for 5 years and always stayed within 10-12lbs of contest shape. I kept coming in near the same weight....about 2lbs of lean mass per year gained. This is the first chance I've given my body the fuel it needs. My abs used to start to blur, I'd freak, and cut cals or increase cardio. I drink about 2 gals of water daily but also probably 30 oz of coffee. Maybe I'll try stretching a bit more. Elliptical I do fine on, just the treadmill that wrecks my shins. Must just be the high impact/extra weight. Thanks for the replies

Yeah, I would use the elliptical machine instead. I used to get very bad shin pain from walking the treadmill with about an 8~10 incline. Here was my problem and I don't know if your going to believe it, but it's the truth! I wear a standard pair of NIKE hightop sneakers. I'm lazy so I keep my laces always tied, with plenty of slack in them, and I dont use the upper lace holes in the sneaker. I do this so I can just slip my foot into my sneakers very easily and never have to tie the laces. I was complaining about shin pain and some lady told me to tie my laces all the way up and tight. I did and all my shin pain went away to this day. Believe it! I guess what I'm trying to say is how is your footwear when doing cardio on the treadmill?

i love cardio as it's the only time i get to read junk spy novels--but i am still concerned about the thickening of the aortic valve (or some heart part) from cardio and gear....my reg doc said something about it but said he had just read it and did not know details.

I have only done a few HIIT sessions while on so far. Been sticking with incline walking, step-mill, and jogging at about 7.0 on the treadmill. I just did 40 minutes of walking/jogging and did not get the pain. I've been trying to ease up on the cardio while running this gear. Still getting past the psychological part of blurred abs. Things are going pretty well so far...........except for the 16 straight weeks of everyday pokes of prop :worried:
