Cardio question....

Ok, so I'm sure this has been asked multiple times. But since I can't search yet, I gave up after 17 pages of old threads.

My question is this, if I were to do cardio twice a day instead of once, do you think it would help an individual in increasing their chances in dropping more weight??

Honestly I have only been doing 20min or so about 4 days a week on either the bike or the treadmill. Granted I've been going all out pretty much when I climb on them, but I feel like my weight loss has come to a close halt. I know I need to modify and work on my diet some more, but I just wanted some input on this god forsaken cardio.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

JM

It's a basic law of thermodynamics: calories in vs. calories out. More cardio = more calories out. So long as calories in remains the same, you will lose weight.

Whether that's a "good" way to get past your plateau is another matter and more info. would be helpful.

I'm always amused by the role people ascribe to "chance" in gaining muscle/losing fat. Like Protobuilder said, it's an issue of caloric balance: eat less, do longer/more cardio sessions, etc. If you've been cutting for a while, you've likely lost some muscle and thus reduced how many calories your body burns.

sure you'll lose more weight, but if you're doing this naturally (which I assume you are) then you'll lose muscle too.

cardio becomes a negative after a certain amount, rather than enhancing training and providing a slight metabolic boost if you overdo it then bad things happen

That sounds nice and objective. Are you actually weighing yourself? If you've been starving yourself for a few weeks, try a bit of a refeed to get your metabolism going again.

Nice one Tweakle :lmao:

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Yeah, I have been doing this all natural. So far my over all weight loss has been 38 lbs. Hmmm, never thought that I might be starving myself a bit. I'll have to kick the food intake up a smidge and see what happens. It very well could be something I've over looked, with how physically demanding my job is every day.

I'll let you guys know what works. Thanks again!
