Cardio or BUST?

When you guys try to add size, clean, do you nix the cardio all together, or just increase cals to overcompensate? Do you find cardio kills your strength? What if you do it forst thing in AM and train later........thoughts?

kurz,
if i hit cardio in the morning my afternoon workouts suck ass. If i do cardio after i am fine. However, at this point, you should be used to hitting cardio in the am, so im not sure of if it has any impact on your afternoon workouts.

That could quite possible kill kurz, lol.
screw you! lol.....I know your first post was bull.....how many times did you do morining cardio and the 4th trip to the buffet line DOESNT COUNT~ lol

I have found that cardio work (twice a week) actually improves my lifting. I seem to be able to dig deeper to get those last few reps off. When I cut cardio out, I notice I lose that.

So even bulking, I would keep cardio in. Of course just not enough to eat your gains. STRICTLY for the excersise of the cardiovascular system benefits. I never do more than 25 min. I'd say keep it at twice a week at 60% MHR (on non-lifing days) to maintain that ability to dig a little deeper on your lifts.

Mind you, what works for some doesn't work for all. So, experiment and see.

Won't help me today though, slept like shit last night so that's gonna drag me down today...I HATE not sleeping the night before chest/arm day!

I now really beleive that cardio is essential even when bulking.
Cardio makes you stronger and most importantly makes your lungs stronger, and your endurence higher. It makes you healthier. It makes your bloodstream clear. It takes down your blood pressure and your heartrate.

Whoever started this trend of "when bulking cut the cardio" obviously just hated cardio and was looking for an excuse. Off course you will need more calories but thats ok. I doubt that if you have a good diet and 200-400 grams of Pro a day that cardio will cut your gains. That is just paranoia. REALLY.

I just don't do cardio ever, mostly because I have to eat too much to gain as it is. later, though...

Don't you find it rough to slam a huge meal just before bed and then again first thing in the am without doing anything before???? That's my biggest prob.

Good one.
Let's see...only 2 trips to the buffet if i go to one.
I did cardio in the morning for about a month during my senior year at Purdue. I was at the gym before 7 every morning riding the fucking bike. It made a big difference on my strength and endurance.

ok..........cant believe the bike would make that much of a difference, but you know best........guess it's a sacrifice one is willing to make to look good and feel good too...........I'm just going to cut back....3-4x week max

If i was a blimp, then i would concern myself. Since im not, i could give a shit about cardio. Im not training to burn all my muscle and fat off, im training to get bigger and stronger and fatter. Things seem to be paying off, because im getting bigger and stronger yet my pants are getting a little loose.

My training partner finally cut back on the cardio and he is finally gaining some mass. He was hitting cardio 5-6 times a week through running and mountain biking.

cardio is not essential...personally i get much more out of breath from squatting than i do riding a bike for 30 mins @ 70%max HR...

cardio, unless your casual lol is "essential" when cutting..i dont think theres anything wrong with doing it while bulking but tone it down to maybe no more than 3 sessions..youll need something in the tank for when your doing a cutter..youll want to increase that rather than have your body get used to the stimuli

I agree with the theory but don't you think the benefits of cardio are too good to give up on just for that bit extra bulking? And what about long term health and endurence? Sure squats gives you a great workout but it is still different.

You are exactly correct Beast....if you are going on all with cardio, 5_ days a week, what are you gonna have to do when you need to cut?????? You'll be doing cardio all day......I'm skipping it for he first time in years tomorrow......

i know, it's a mutual thing. You bust my balls and i bust yours.

always. he just gives me hell for being "fat" and i give him hell for not being big enough and too lean. One of these years were gonna hit it and hopefully learn something from each other.

EXACTLY......it's a brother relationship....all is good....I consider you the same way beast....I could bust your balls and not feel as though you took it personal......all good bruh.......

no worries here ;)

Don't know if this will help, but I don't usually find cardio beneficial for much of anything other than burning excess bodyfat when dieting. My lungs get a decent workout just lifting and concentrating on breathing deeply thoughout the workout.

But that's just me.
