Cardio in a.m. improves your day.

As silly as this may sound... I have recently started dieting down and I am adding cardio 3 times per week. I run for 40-45 mins at moderate intensity.

First of all, it really is shedding of the pounds. I was not really a big believer before, I think that it is more because I didnt want to do it.

Anyways, the thing that I have been noticing is that it really improves my day on the days that I do cardio (usually mon/wed/fri). I can really notice a difference on the days where I do cardio compared to the days that I dont. What is so good? Well ... I am waaaaay more awake all day, just feel great. I feel more alert also, feel healthier, its kinda weird. On the days that I dont do cardio I have a general burnt out feeling, and feel kinda sluggish. It usually takes me until about noon to fully wake up. It seems to kickstart my metabolism for the day.

Hell yesterday, I did cardio in the am, then when noon came around I went with a girl from work for a bikeride for an hour, felt like I had all this energy that I wanted to burn it was great. Maybe it is because I am getting leaner? Either way I think that I am gonna run with this for a while. Its just weird how I can totally notice the difference between on and off days.

Cheers,
Mavy

By the way, I do the cardio at my gym from 6:15 - 7:00. Its not that bad once you wake up (thats the hardest part), and its actually getting easier to do so I really dont mind it, and the "rest of the day benefits" are definately worth it for me.

I think it ruins my day bro cause I lose out on sleep, then again I work 3rd shift it might be different if I worked 1st.

When i ran track in college I ran 4 miles @ 6 am 5 times a week. I hated it for the first couple of weeks, but after that I really enjoyed it. It really improved my day also. As for the afternoon workout though, I never liked those :( When i get to my desired weight I plan to start back running again, but right now i freak if I lose one pound.

I totally understand what you're saying.

I'm ending a cycle and I'm planning on going into "full cut" mode once I'm done, to really show my muscle gains I've made.

When I'm cutting down, morning cardio DEFINITELY improves my day. I've definitely got a lot more energy when i'm hitting the am cardio than when i'm lifting only.

I did the Arnold two a day program one time while cutting. My morning lifts were always a little below the norm but both myself and my training partner found that we had way more energy throughout the day and were more awake like you said. Between 6:00-7:00am.

I often run "two-a-days". I usually do mine with 45 mins of cardio in the morning and then lifting in the evening - often followed by another 15-20 mins of very light cardio.

How did you like your routine?

Doesn't it make sense if you're cutting to utilize the "empty stomach-first thing in the morning" for cardio... get your meals in during the day... have a good lift at night... then do some add'l cardio post-workout?

Anyone else do "two a days" with the lifts coming in the AM?

Dude, the Arnold two a day is lifting in the morning and the afternoon.
It makes sense like you say to get some work on an empty stomache, plus doing 2 45min-1hour workouts per day is better for natural hormone release then doing one 1.5-2 hour workout. Mostly we'd stick to the small muscle groups in the am, and do the big lifts in the pm.

I enjoyed this workout quite a bit. Some would say it's over training but we were really doing the same amount of work. After only a couple months there were lay offs at work, both myself and my traning partner got transfered to different departments with different shifts. My new start time at work was 6:00am, there was no way I was getting to the gym for 4:30 so I had to give up the routine.

I sometimes go to my apt complex gym and ride the bike in the AM. It's literally right downstairs. The sweating really opens up your pores so you feel fresher all day long.

cardio is very underated

true running and biking really maek your body more durable, and stronger

i find it helps me in the gym rather than hinder me
