Cardio for endurance

I want to do cardio for building endurance not to lose weight. What are the guidelines and the differences in training between the two? I'm pretty small as is and I don't wanna get any smaller if possible. My main goal is endurance which seems to be extremely low. And on another note I get extremely painful shin splints when running, any way to avoid this?

You may want to try sprint training. It kinda bulks your muscles up a little bit, and it is good for endurance. For example, instead of running for a specific time limit, try running for how fast you can get from point A to point B.

And if you are running on a treadmill make sure your posture is correct, because that may cause your shin splints.

Your back is supposed to be straight and using your stomache lower abs to lift your legs as you run. This way your not pounding the ground so hard, your actually using yoru muscles to run with, which will also not make you lose any size.
