cardio before breakfast

NO. NO. NO. Cardio on an empty stomach, THEN PWO meal. Trust me!
Researched this deeply.... It forces your body to burn existing fat instead of the food you ingest prior to doing cardio.

A sexy little pilates instructor told me the exact same thing. She said she goes for a run first thing in the morning, before eating, to kickstart her metabolism. Haven't tried it myself yet, currently in a bulking phase. Where's Tatyana when you need her?...lol.

That ephed, aspirin and caffine is a bogus stack no offense. its highly catabolic.

i like the whey protien and creatine right when you wake up then eat a shit load after. that to me sounds like the best bet.

depends on my schedule. on the weekends when i am in my dieting phase i make sure of it but during the rest of the week i do it when i can which is usually in the evening.

I seem to crash in the afternoon if I do the AM cardio. I might try switching up the diet a little to see if that helps.

I will ingest some bcaa prior to early morning low intensity cardio on the weekends. I think I would die if I tried to do any high intensity stuff on an empty stomach. During the week I can only do cardio after work.

The body burns food in this order; Carbs, Fat, Muscle. I'm not going to argue.

so are you saying am cardio on an empty stomach doesnt burn any muscle?

I;m currently cutting, and I have a good amount of muscle, 13% bf. I wake up, take an eca - ephedrine - caffeine - aspirin stack, then walk for 45 mins. Weights in the evening. Seems to be doing good so far

i do the same thing
take my multi w/eca
run <slow pace> 1hr and 20min every other day
weights at night (11pm)

it works for me

With me being a strength athlete my number one goal is to be strong. Plain and simple. However, im about 17%bf and i hate it. I have a large about of muscle but its all hid under that 17%. My question is...does am cardio effect strength levels. I want to shed some body fat but i at least want to maintain my current strength levels. Im not on any anabolic androgenic steroids as of right now becaue of various issues but will start up again in may. Im 6'2 300lbs.

It would seem from recent research that if cardio is performed at a level of at least 63% of VO2 max, then fat burning is not inhibited if carbs are ingested during exercise. Ingesting carbs during this cardio work will also improve performance and post exercise recovery.

Summing up the research findings

• At low intensities (25-50% VO2 max), carbs during exercise reduce fat oxidation compared to fasted trainees.
• At moderate intensities (63-68% VO2 max) carbs during exercise may reduce fat oxidation in untrained subjects, but do not reduce fat oxidation in trained subjects for at least the first 80-120 minutes of exercise.
• Carbohydrate during exercise spares liver glycogen, which is among the most critical factors for anticatabolism during hypocaloric & other conditions of metabolic stress. This protective hepatic effect is absent in fasted cardio.
• At the established intensity level of peak fat oxidation (~63% VO2 max), carbohydrate increases performance without any suppression of fat oxidation in trained subjects.

If time is limited, perhaps the best idea is to get down to the gym without breakfast and drink some carbs while exercising.
