Carb cutting question

So how much should you cut during nighttime when your metabolism slows down (or later on in the day, depending on when you got up)? Should you cut to zero carbs or, is around 50-60 grams ok? Should you still have no or almost no amounts of carbs even if you worked (cardio intensive) during the later stages of your day?

EG.

GO to gym, do lots of cardio/weight stuff.
Come home, eat Spaghetti or something, go to sleep 5 hrs later?

Eating carbs at night don't neccesarily make you fat. Excess calories do. the only problem I see w/ eating carbs right before bed is that insulin either slows down or blocks(not sure which one) the release of growth hormone. 5 hrs. is plenty of time. The only meal I would keep the carbs lower in would be just your pre bed meal unless of course that is like your pwo or ppwo meal. You are eating again before you go to bed right? After say your meal w/ "spaghetti"? But in the grand scheme of things, it's all about cals. in v.s. cals out.

Ahh great thanks. No I usually do not eat anything before I go to bed (about 2 hrs prior) because I practise guitar or just read, so I can't really munch. I do eat a pretty heavy dinner though, but around 5 hrs before bedtime. Is a daily carb intake of 50-200 grams good?

unless you are carb cycling there is no real need to cut carbs to 50g a day. They are good because they have a protein sparing effect. By that I mean that more of the nutritents from the prot. will be used for muscle building instead of energy and normal body functions.

I'm a broken record on the control of simple, fast carbs for burning fat and dumping stored water.

No sugars and no grain/flour products.
Lots of veggies and grilled meat/fish/fowl. Add a few eggs and some cheese. Lots of water.

I never had a problem with energy on this diet.
I couldn't gain muscle without some "help".
I really got the "lean" dry look though.
