Car Trouble

Don't know much about cars so hope someone can help out.

Problem is that I didn't see a big water hole in the street. After driving through it, which probably covered 3/4 of my tires, right side only. 1st through 3rd gear sounds weird, like it is trying to catch but almost can't. And then all seems normal, after I get out of the store, probably no more than 30 min, my cars check engine light came on and 1st through 3rd were now worst than before. Should I assume after it dries out all will be fine. Also have a 99 Civic.

whatever it is stop driving. put in a insurance claim (for collision) if you have it. you will be surcharged for the loss but it will be covered less your deductible.

if its an aotomatic you may need to take it to a shop, sounds like water in the transmission, the bands may have gotten wet and started slipping.

RADAR

I would wait and try it in the morning after it has a chance to just sit. This costs you nothing and then if it was the water and it dries up you are fine. If not, you can still get it looked at.

Sounds like your plug wires are breaking down under a load. Your transmission is a sealed unit, no worrys there.

Does it idle smooth?

I do not remember if it idles smoothly or not, it has been about 5 hours since. I am pretty sure it did though, it just had trouble when climbing in speed in the first few gears (Manual).

hopefully you didn't hydrolock your engine... best thing to do right now is drain your oil and tranny fluid as well.. may have water in either one of them...also may want to pull a spark plug and start it up, see if water shoots out of the hole.. also good idea to change the spark plugs as well..... run the car for a few minutes.. then drain the oil /tranny fluid again, to get any water that may still be in the engine/tranny..
