My camry is trashed but the shop wants to buy it, it is a 2002 Camry LE brand with new tires, sway bar, body is in decent condition, just needs a new engine, how much is it worth?

I am now in the market for a car, what are recommendations for a mid twenties person who has to drive a reasonable amount, I am also looking to buy a new car.
 
Do you like large cars or small cars? I love small cars, but it's not practical for where I live with the snowfall.

New 4 door jeeps are cool. I rented one on vacation and would add to they toy list if I had a parkig spot for it.
 
does it actually need a new engine?


Also, how the fuck are we supposed to tell you what it's worth if you don't tell us how many miles it has.

if you ever need a jeep i'm your guy...Got a shit load of em'. From stock to all jacked up on big wheels/tires with winches/ air lockers, etc.

i wood like a 4 door jeep mangler...it wood be cool if it was lifted a couple inches to house 33's or at least leveled at the front end...whatcha got for a gray old bastard like me??? :)
 
The engine and labor will cost 2500. I just put one in last winter.

buy a honda...my former honda has over 300k on it and i still see it driving around town...still doesn't appear to be burning any oil either.
 
How parts and labor. That's how much it cost last time. The engine is trashed. It doesn't work and won't ever. All the oil and.coolant is gone.

Because a used motor is pry $1000, labor isn't that much brongr.


You never mentioned how many miles the odometer had. Sounds to me like the shop wants to snag it off you cheap, throw a motor in it and make out like bandits.
 
It had 170k miles. I'm not spending any more money on it. It already cost me 5 grand in a year

Yea, its a nice smooth ride and it has a good looking body for the good price, all my car worries are over hopefully
 
good inteligent buy! Most young-uns would have gotten the I want blinders and over spent on a "cool" car...yours is cooler! inteligent decision, good gas mileage, low insurance. One worry though, how the heck did you blow up two yota engines in a year?

First time the head gasket blew and I put in a used block. Second time the water hose burst and the oil cap somehow was missing and all the coolant and oil was gone from the engine and the valves got destroyed (never seen that before and it was there when i put in coolant right before it shitted out)I wasnt even driving it all that much I've been taking the bus to work. I smelled something funny 2 weeks ago and shrugged it off. Won't do that again.
 
At this point, just look forward. Piece of mind has a value, so thats the benefit. Im positive that there are always "you should Of's", but move forward...

old trucks have moar intrinsic value than old cars (excluding antiques, collector's item, et al)

Right now it really only applies to new car dealers, but basically they force dealers to pay for leads. I think they charge $300 per lead if the customer buys. When you sign up with True Car the dealer principle gives them access to their DMS system which True Car then pulls a data feed and gets all the customer information as well as transcations. That's how they get their data of what car sold for what etc..

The problem is with dealers giving them access to their records they're also giving them access to their customer pool. There is nothing to stop them from canablizng the dealers in the future to sell the leads to the highest bidder, or their own dealerships. Hell, one of the top guys in true car is the head of the GO automotive group.

Shit's a fuckin scam IMO and any dealer that signs up for them is retarded and in for a rude awakening.
