I can't do Cardio for 2 days after my Leg workout..Is this normal and would there be such thing as an alternative cardio that doesn't involve legs or is there a way to overcome this...
Thanks
Ed

I NEVER do cardio on leg days!

Thanks Swordfish, I don't either but I also now can't for 2 days after. Find it hard to walk even.. I would just like to keep the fat coming off as well..

Best thing to do then is to do legs on the last day of your split and take the two days off after that..so you can do cardio up until your leg day.

You are able to walk after leg day so you should be able to ride the bike at the gym. It will get some fresh blood in and help the legs heal quicker if you get in the next day. Just make it the easiest cardio day of the week, you wont break any records so dont try.

If you are consistently too sore then you should reduce your leg workout in some way. You can build things back up again later, there is an optimal ammount of work that you can do to grow and then more than that is just unnnecesary.

did you just start working out again? this could be what is causing your excessive soreness in your legs. as for doing cardio, do whatever floats your boat.

Sorry not to offer anything but I'm the same: legs + cardio gives long-term soreness. Just eat it up and keep going. Try brisk walking until you can do full cardio. Equally, don't do it to the extent that it eats into your needed recovery. It's all one big balancing act to maximize muscle gains and fitness and minimize fat deposition. Some just accept it and concentrate on their muscle and strength gains, some maximze fitness and others just starve themselves. Find your own comfort ratios and push them hard.

You could try to work out at a brisker pace and take less rest between sets. That'll get your heart-rate moving a bit more.

Any form of cardio is good as long as your heart is pumping. I sometimes do shadow boxing or boxing with the pads/bag when my legs are too sore.

Thanks everyone. All very helpful. Some great sugestions. I will defo move my training around and do the heavy leg workout on the Friday to give me 2 full leg rest days. K to you all. :)
Thanks again
