The only problem that worries me is that I have heard about how some gays are only allowed to be foster parents to children much older (10-12 years old) than the age I would like. Not saying there is anything wrong with those children, but I would much preferably want one pre-K as it is much easier to start with good influences than trying to overcome bad experiences on down the road.

I have also heard some horror stories of gays being foster parents for 5-8 years and then the state coming snatch the kid out for no reason.

This scares me because I do not know how I would react in a case like this. Which would probably be violently. To take it upon myself to extend a better life to someone and do what I can to help them overcome the shitty hand that Fate dealt them with their birth circumstances, to see them grow and improve and have the potential laid out before them to do anything they wanted... and then it all get scrapped and they sent to a children's home for no reason. that would not sit right with me at all.

Nothing worse that have a kid taken away. I had a step daughter that called me dad for 7 yrs, then got divorced and lost all right to see her. I've seen her about 3 times in the last 8 years. I still have "issues" about it.

you appear to have steady and more than adequate income and housing to raise a child/children in.
