Do you think congress is going to tighten the fed guidlines on steroids in their meeting on march 17th? Isn't anyone providing testimony from the other side of the fence? Can the government really justify locking up steroid users and make then comparable to a cocaine or heroin user?

The problem with law enforcement and steroids is that so many cops use them! They love them! I think they should use them to tell you the truth, in fact I think anyone who is old enough and half-responsible should also use them. Can you really see judges and juries putting a clean cut athlete away for trying to further enhance their physique?

what you guys have to remember is that for every law enforcement officer that is commited to stopping steroids there is one less to deal with hard drugs - funny how that works out isn't - now it is easier to put hard drugs on the street than it is steroids (thats no bullshit - i got it from a guy who deals in both - the dude would be happy to sell me coke but he is afraid that roids would get him jail time) - so what does that mean? seems to me that someone is making big money in hard drugs while stopping roids gets the big press....

We all must be informed whats up in Washington.

If anyone hears some news let us know

From what Ive heard , altough I dont know anyone who sells them, roids are less profitable but also much less prone to busting than hard drugs.

Sorry I can't stop by more often, but thought I'd offer an update: My testimony was well received. Both the written and oral testimony may be accessed through www.steroidlaw.com. The result: no increase in guidelines penalties at this time. Below is the communication I received from the lawyers who asked me to appear before the Commission (on behalf of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rick,

The Commission voted not to increase steroid penalties at this time. I think your written and oral testimony must be credited for the Commission not taking action at this time because you alerted them to the complexity of the issues involved with steroid use.

My understanding is that they are asking Congress for emergency authority to consider steroid penalties to give themselves time to study the issues. Without emergency authority, the Commission must submit amendments to Congress no later than May 1 of the year. If the Congress takes no action to disapprove the amendment, it goes into effect on November 1. With emergency authority, the Commission can continue to consider the issues and submit an amendment to Congress outside those deadlines.
