what kinds of tea are ok to take with a cold or are the best to take (green tea, apple cinnamon, orange spice, english tea)? I have quite a few several kinds of tea and want to drink some before bed. Oh yeah and drinking tea with honey is that ok also? :rose:

anything without caffeine should be good to go

Well, tea has caffeine, so unless you drink a sleepytime tea or a decaffeinated variety you might have trouble going to sleep. Granted it doesn't have as much as coffee, but it's still there.

Honey is very good in tea if you haven't had it. Drink some English Black Tea with some Milk and Honey.

Old wife's remedy: Mix mollasses with honey, ginger, lemon juice and hot water. Add this to your tea. Works everytime.

I usually drink green tea with honey. :) Are you fighting a cold too D? I've been dizzy all day thanks to this damn thing. :(

Green tea is great to drink, (warm when you have a cold) and I put a little honey in it as it tastes pretty nasty (as in plain) othewise. :)

i do have some tea called sleepy time tea brand"bigelow" has chamolmile and and something else i can think of at this moment - do u put milk and honey in that or no?

Yeah, bigelow is what I was thinking of. I don't put milk and honey in any of my tea, but that's just me. It's more of a mild acquired test I guess, so it's up to you. I'm not sure if Milk would go well with Chamomile, but honey would.

I hope you get better Dirty D
I miss talking to you as well. :rose:

Once in a while I'll put a little half&half in Irish Breakfast or English Breakfast. I've never put it in a Chamomile or Green tea though.

The Bigelow 'Sleepy Time' is good stuff.

HMM Black tea has Caffeine in it herbal doesn't.
Sleepy time is a good blend as is Chamomile. honey to sweeten. Green tea is great too but the first two taste better, though for a cold green may have more beneficial effects the others are more "comfort drinks". Celestial Seasonings has a lot of choices.
Black tea is the one with caffeine though so avoid it unless you are looking for a boost if you have to work.
Most of all get better soon

avoid anything with caffiene, because it will affect the quality of your sleep, and therefore your recuperative ability.

the main benefit of tea (besides soothing the area) is to kill a few bugs (your body generally tolerates higher temps a bit better than most bugs) and to get blood (and therefore immune cells) to the area.

adding honey or sugar doesnt do terribly much (although there was a study showing that honey was better, for some reason or other...but ti wasnt very convincing) although small amounts of syrupy liquids on the throat will decrease coughing, which is a good thing if you have a cough that is making your throat rough and uncomfy

milk isnt a bad idea at all at night, since warmed milk contains....aaaarrrgggghhh shit i always forget the name.....anyway a chemical that helps you sleep well. the whole "warm cup of milk to help you sleep" wivestale was actually proven to be true

cheerios

I find salt water gargles and vitamin C to be helpful.

Also, any decaffeinated hot drink is good for a sore throat. Personally, I like lemon and ginger.
