The ugly woman is far less likely to "make a move" on her guy friend because of the fear of rejection. An ugly guy on the other hand, after some liquid courage, will eventually hit on the hot female friend because guys have to risk rejection if they want to play, we're conditioned to accept it.

I can't speak for the women but for the men, if the woman is attractive, the guy can never be 'just friends' with her. It's always in the back of his mind that if he got the chance.......

He may pretend to be just friends, sometimes even for many years but if she even gave him a sniff that it was possible, he'd be all over it in 2 seconds.....
