Exactly what marsboi said is correct... I guess Im thinking like a script kiddie....

Another thing, are you on a wireless LAN connection? Easy access point there. Get on the inside of the firewall.

ok, You are both right... kind of.

Thats all bullshit to them. They run your service they dont need script kiddy programs to do this.

I can think of at least 3 ways to do this but the quickest way is to flag your MAC address right from the first router on your street.

They pipe all the traffic to an archive and analize the data there is no practicle way to find out if they are doing this either.

Bottom line is that if you REALLY want to be anonymous online you are better off going to another place to do what ever u have to do. (internet cafe...etc).

No proxy, shell or firewall is going to help unless u are encrypting your connection and the other comp can read that and have a key but then its only a matter of time before they crack it.

keep in mind that u have to do something BAD for them to go threw the trouble but if they want u they will get u.

lol

EDIT: and if u ARE encrpting your output in a safe manner they can just get a warrent and take your computer.

That's the jist of it, they can do scores of things but usually won't. Here is something though that sounds like a whacky conspiracy theory but is legit: the government does in fact have various ways to siphon through not only internet activity but telephone conversations. We've all heard of Carnivore and various programs. I don't know the specifics of which programs truly exist, but I do know that there are programs that DO exist and ARE used. If you say certain things in various places on the internet you won't have to be reported to have agents knocking on your door and that's no joke. Fortunately Uncle Sam can't afford to spend 6 figures on an investigation everytime one of us talks about a few amps of this or that. There is some evidence that their technology is so advanced that it can sift through telephone conversations for buzzwords.

It's irrelevant as to whether they can plant spyware in your computer because to my knowledge they simply don't do that. If you've done something bad enough, as was said, they will do something and it's definitely not tricking you into downloading spyware. As was said, they can analyze archived data, knock down your door, and seize your computer. If you are busted for something having to do with AAS, the archived stuff is basically meaningless as all they will care about is what you are in possession of, what taxes you evaded, and what is on your hard drive. Even what is on the hard drive is probably irrelevant unless they need to refute testimony (IOW, if their questions aren't answered). They will not publicize secret anti-terrorism related technology to bust gymrats.

I am a bit paranoid.Just wondering if they need to get in your house to get in your specific computer and see everything that goes in and out of it.Or could they set up a tap in it with the Cable company,so the tap is on your cable modem. My cable modem went dead and when I called the cable company they told me their was a block in it and that caused it to go dead.Just weird shit with the way the whole thing went, just wondering if they can tap your computer through the cable company and how to avoid it I ahve a business firewall and all that crap and use proxy servers. :worried:

I think they can do about anything they want. About two years ago as I was pulling into my driveway with my wife and two year old, I got out of my car and just like in the movies about 10 cars come flying up my driveway and about 15 agents came running at us with guns drawn. It was the IRS criminal investigation division with a search warrant for my home (and businesses). I guess it comes with the territory of owning nightclubs and a strip club. They actually took my computer with them and I had to get it back about a month later. I have always wondered if they planted anything in mine.

The question isn't whether or not they CAN, it is whether or not they WILL. There is absolutely no electronic communication that is secure. They can all be read. But to read a particular person's e-mails or listen to their telephone conversations is very resource intensive and even with the Patriot Act it still requires permission and coordination and an expenditure of very expensive resources. Local police forces might have these capabilities, depending on the size of the police force, but even then they use it to go after big fish.

Maybe I'm naive, but it isn't something that is going to be used to find out if a guy ordered some steroids, unless of course the police have nothing else going on that they need to devote their time to, which is rarely the case.

There is a Big Brother, but there are simply too many people in the US for them to invade everyone's privacy. If you have been chosen to be monitored it is because something happenned to give them a reason, so the best way to avoid it is to lay low on the radar. The higher your profile and the more illegal activity you are involved in, the more likely you are to be monitored. If you only ordered some test and Dbol over the Internet and are otherwise a law abiding citizen, the chances of you being monitored are near zero. There are simply not enough people and computers to do it.

But then again, maybe I'm full of shit.

Trust me - you would be amazed at what technology the govt. has at their disposal in this regard...without getting into specifics...just know that they ABSOLUTELY CAN "eavesdrop" and know exactly where you are and what you type at all times..there is some incredible technology being used nowadays because of our terrorist problems....the question is....are they going to act on gear-related info? Probably not...unless you're a big dealer....but I do know that this technology IS being actively used for 3 things....Tracking Big-Time dealers, Terrorism and Underage Internet Sex Acts....Big Brother can basically know when we take a shit nowadays if he so desires....
