Can A/S cause enlarged lymph nodes?

Went to doctor and he said he felt and enlarged lymph node. He said in most cases it is an STD but tests came out negative and he said it must have been an infection somewhere else in the body. Could it be from my test?

First of all where is the lymph node?? Is it one node that is elarged or many?? You have lymph nodes throughout the body so its location would help to better rule out certain things.

Most cases of enlarged lymph nodes are due to infection. In more rare cases they can be a sign of one of many malignancies. In any event I have never heard, nor would I understand why AAS usage would have any effect on lymph nodes.

Post the location of the node and I may be able to comment further.

Did you get a biopsy done? An enlarged node can be very serious ie. hodgkins disease (cancer).

Don't mean to scare you but better safe then sorry

Your Doc is misleading you. Lymph nodes become enlarged anytime a substance recognized as foreign by the body is present. That can mean a viral infection (like a simple cold) to any kind of bacterial infection not just STD's. Lymph nodes in lymphomas tend to have a hard rubbery texture and are often not mobile. There are a million more likely and benign explanations for lymph node enlargement than cancer. Also, if you have acne, you can have enlargement of the lymph nodes under your chin and jaw.

Only way AAS would effect lymph node size is by injecting and thus getting a little infection. Do you inject?? If so that could cause it to get enlarged.

Other causes of node in this area could be STD, any local or systematic infection, benign lymphadenopathy, and as mentioned above cancer (lymphoma). Did doctor check your nuts?? Sometimes testical cancer will spread to lymphs in the pelvis area.

If it is still big after a cycle of antibiotics, I would suggest a biopsy to the doctor to rule out the cancer possibility.
