Can 5x5 be done twice a week?

by higher volume I mean anything thats more than say 3-4 sets total per bodypart
 
will it work if you do 5x5 the first time in the week, your regular perscribed loads, then the second time use an abysmally low weight?
eg. mon
250lb 5x5 bench
then thursday
135-175lb5x5?

I've done something similar - one heavy day and one light day. I made good gains from it. Don't train to failure twice a week.

If you're going to do that, do an ME day and have a DE day. I don't suggest working the 5x5 system two days a week for the same body part.
 
well if you agree with needsize that a muscle generally takes 72 hours for recovery...just not on a higher volume, then why dont you suggest working out a bodypart twice a week?
